Every day the masked female would visit Gemma, sometimes she would just stare from a distance. Sometimes she would cause pain, or just watch Amelia inflict it. She seemed almost familiar, but Gemma could remember meeting any females so full of bloodlust. She took enjoyment in every hit, every cut, every burn. She watched like her life depended on it. Her eyes would indicate at smiling face under the black mask, she was sick. She was a monster, but just like every other day she would leave as fast as she had come. The only person who would stick around for long periods of time was Amelia.
Amelia never took chances, Zac or Gemma would always be tranquilised before they were removed from their cells. Due to Gemma’s condition now though, Amelia sometimes wouldn’t even bother lock her in a cell, but just leave her in the room with restraints. Amelia knew at this point, Gemma could not take risks, and she was too weak to be a threat.
Days past and Gemma kept to her word, keeping her block completely up against everyone. She blocked everyone, Baden’s only link to her was through Zac being physically close to her. Close enough to yell trying to get a response for him. Knowing she was in the same room, Zac would constantly yell out to Gemma, begging her to link with Baden on his behalf. Her lack of response was killing his Alpha. Being injured and far away didn’t cease the packs uneasiness or the holes clearly forming between the Alpha and Luna.
“I can’t,” or no response is what he would get every time. If Amelia was present, she would laugh enraging Zac further. Zac was becoming more and more suspicious of Gemma, he had not seen or heard her tortured in days. Granted he would pass out for hours after his own. Though Baden was supposed to be her mate, she would feel his emotions through the bond. Just speaking though the link, Zac could feel his despair and craze at the loss of communication with her.
Baden hadn’t slept since Gemma broke their link, placing up her block. Dark circles rimming his eyes, hair ruffled and out of place Baden clutched tightly at his new desk. “Zac.., try again.”
Closing the link so Baden couldn’t hear, Zac called for her, “Gemma?”
“hmm”, was Gemma’s response.
He could tell by the sound, she was close, very close. His suspicions ran so deep, he no longer called her Luna, but spat her name. She was hiding something from him, from Baden, from the pack.
Holding the link open once more so Baden could hear her responses, “link Baden, he needs you.”
A deep audible breath left Gemma. Zac followed the noise, with his eyes spotting a shadowed figure through the divider screen. “No Zac, I won’t do it. Stop asking.” Her soft voice was one of exhaustion, tinted with frustration.
Zac had no patients left, he protected this b***h with his life and this is the respect she showed for her mate, his alpha. She was probably working with Amelia. “For f**k sake, why not, he is going crazy not hearing you, why won’t you f*****g talk to him.”
Baden’s voice ripped through Zac’s mind, “you don’t speak to her like that pup!!! Do you f*****g hear me.” Zac tried his best not to wince, or be affected by Baden’s words of authority.
“Break the link with him”, Gemma commanded. Baden screamed yet again in his head commanding him not to. Sensing the unease in doing as she asked, as well as the insecurity that he would lie, she continued. “Cut him off, link with me and I will talk with you.”
Baden’s voice boomed in Zac mind ordering him not to. Disobeying Zac cut off the link first stating he would relink and tell him whatever it was after. Linking with Gemma, a calmness flowed through their link, she was totally calm, she had to be a f*****g traitor. Watching the shadowed figure stand from her sitting position, walking towards the screen. Zac’s heart turned dark, she was in on this she had to be, she was free to walk around. She was a traitor.
“You’re not in a cell, why are you not in a cell?” Zac was furious as his voice echoed off the stone walls. Completely ignoring Zac’s outburst, not even hesitating she continued at her slow even pace towards his cell. Zac continued yelling profanities as she approached the edge of the screen. As she cleared the edge Zac’s words stopped flowing. Zac stopped breathing, stopped pacing, stopped thinking, he stopped everything. Falling to his knees in an instant, a tear escaped his widened eyes. He had not seen her in weeks, nothing could have prepared him for the sight that was her body, “L..una”, his voice broke as he cried out.
