Chapter 29 - Harsh Realities

“Gemma, what’s wrong?” Gemma turned in his hold looking into his red eyes begging for release. She had not prepared for this, her whole body trembled in fear. Still refusing to answer him, Baden did something he knew he never should have. Opening a forceful link with Gemma her wall of protection crumbled instantly. Images flowed through Baden’s mind. Whippings, beatings, Gemma chained in a cell to a bed. ‘Be a good girl, be a good girl.’ “I’m a good girl, I’m a good girl”, chanting through his mind her voice broken and filled with terror.

“Gem”, Baden shouted. Kai’s eyes shot up from his kneeling position on the floor. Meeting the scene of Gemma in the arms of Baden in front of him anger ripped through his body. She was his, he owned her and her body.

Baden couldn’t help but whimper unable to stop the flood of images in his mind. Scenes of torture and physical abuse always seemed calming to him, but this was disgusting. Blocking her mind from his own Baden’s voice boomed through the hall, “Zac”. Gemma with her mind broken into was stuck in the never ending reel of her life, her past playing on repeat.

Zac was at Baden’s side in a single breath, Baden lifted Gemma like a princess handing her to Zac. Zac took her immediately from his arm, unsure what was happening as he could on see the whites in her eyes. “Protect her, find Derick, I will join you shortly.”

“Yes Alpha”, Zac promptly walked out a side door with Baden’s treasure securely in his arms. In her state of being stuck inside her own mind Gemma made no sound or disagreement at being touched or carried out by Zac. Zac was beyond confused as to what to do with her in her current state. Mind linking Derick who was in the pack hospital to come quickly. He placed her on a bench in the garden, to try and get her alert and awake.

The warm night air held a cool breeze, but Gemma still showed no signs of alertness. While waiting for Derick, Zac kneeled in front of her. “Luna? … Luna can you hear me?” Zac was worried beyond belief, something was wrong, something was very wrong. She sat on her own upright, but the white of her eyes were still on display.

Gemma was stuck inside her own mind, she had never seen imagines or been able to project them to others. God she could barely mind link as it was. When seeing Kai and her father again she fell harder then she thought possible. Trying to speak to Baden so hard, a barrier seemed to snap and all her memories started flooding Baden’s mind as well as her own. She didn’t know how to stop it, she couldn’t stop it even now. “Luna?”, someone was calling her. “Luna can you hear me?”, they stopped and once again she sunk deeper into her mind watching the horrors of her past on repeat.

Zac could feel two people approaching, “Not now, she needs space”. When it was clear that the two people ignored his words Zac was furious. “I said leave.” The two still did not turn around nor leave. Just when Zac was about to turn something cracked behind him. He heard the noise before he felt the wetness trickle down his head. His vision becoming patchy Zac slumped forwards blacking out on the floor next to Gemma who still remained on the bench unmoving.

Baden Stood in the same spot watching Zac carry Gem out of the hall. When she was finally out of view he turned his murderous gaze on Kai and Robert. Both men still knelt at the base of the stage, Roberts eyes on his own. While Kai’s watched the door where Gemma had been taken through. “Alpha, you found my daughter”. A growl ripped through the hall as Alex approached the pair, his eyes blood shot. All guests went deadly silent watching the scene as Baden’s Alpha presence filled the room almost choking all present.

“You hurt my Gem”. Baden roared forcing both men flat on the floor with the amount of command dripping from his voice.

“It is lie Alpha”. Kai ground out. “She lies often, just like her brother.”

Baden stopped the pressure allowing the two men to their feet. Baden smiled bloodlust running through him like never before. A sadistic grin moved across his face. “She is my mate and your Luna and She didn’t tell me anything, but you will.”
