I woke up again with a start, heart jackhammering in my chest like it wanted to escape.
This time was different. She wasn’t grinding on my thigh like I had foolishly anticipated again…greedy for some more. Hell, she wasn’t even beside me.
Pure panic slammed into me. I bolted upright, completely naked, eyes wild. “Ab… Kira!” I yelled, voice raw and frantic, scanning the riverbank like a lunatic.
What if that rogue bastard came back while I was passed out? What if he grabbed her again? Or worse…what if she woke up, realized what we’d done, and ran from me?
I was already on my feet, ready to shift and hunt.
