Adrain’s POV
Derek snarled angrily when we saw it.
Blood on the snow.
Dark red, dried into rusty streaks against the white. Not much…just drops, smeared like she’d scratched herself on a branch or fallen. My heart slammed against my ribs.
A wild animal? One of the cursed beasts? Had something sunk claws into her soft skin?
No. No no no.
Derek roared again inside me, clawing at the edges of my control, desperate to break free. He was losing it, panting, snarling, ready to tear the forest apart tree by tree.
I shoved him down hard. If Derek took over now, he’d kill anything that moved…friend or foe. There will be real chaos and bloodbath. I couldn’t let that happen.
We fanned out, searching wider, deeper. Hours bled away. Her trail led straight to the Outland border…a wide clearing
