Whispers In The Cave

1268 Words

Liana’s POV I took one step into the pine-scented afternoon and froze. Voices. Low, hushed, coming from the exact path I needed to take to leave. If whoever was coming saw me here, everything could be complicated. Tons of questions swarmed through my head. Who are they? How are they here? Would they report to the king if they see me? What if it’s a council member? Will I be killed for treason? Suddenly, the vial in my pocket felt like a death warrant.
