Chapter 50 - Lunch with Harmony.

Watching David leave for work was hard. My head wasn’t as bad today, but David insisted I rest. I put on something cute, but comfortable for lunch today. I waited down stairs for Audra to come to the door. I heard a tapping and got up, I slowly made it to the door opening it. Audra smiled warmly at me.

“Ready?” She asked and I nodded. “Don’t be nervous.” Audra said as I followed her to the largest house. We stood at the door and Audra knocked. “I hope you’re a hugger.” Audra said and I looked at her. The door flew open and this tall woman stood there. Just like George looked like a god, Harmony was a goddess. Her perfect tan skin and bleach blonde curls were something trophy wives were made of. Her smile reached from ear to ear and every tooth was perfect. She reached out and hugged me, holding me in a tight embrace. I reluctantly pat her back.

“Oh, um hello.” I said as she let me go.

“As you know I am Harmony Featherman. Welcome to my home.” Her voice was like velvet. I wondered if she was real or if I was dreaming.

“Ryan Williams.” I said and she turn to Audra.

“There’s my sister!” Harmony giggled and hugged Audra.

“Hi Harmony! How are things?” Audra said.

“Ugh! Don’t ask.” Harmony turned and walked in. Audra motioned me to follow and started in as well. I walked behind Audra and marveled at how open the home was.

“The trip was good right?” Audra asked as we walked out to a back patio by a pool.

“It was alright. I was dreadfully bored. George had a good time, but Bradly was a handful. I had to watch him the entire time.” Harmony complained.

“That’s a shame.” Audra said.

“Anyways! We’re here to meet Ryan! Ryan how old are you?” Harmony asked and I looked at Audra.

“I’m twenty six.” I said.

“Prime baby bearing years.” Harmony said.

“I’m sure babies aren’t on their radar.” Audra said and I nodded.

“She isn’t marked yet, so I would imagine. If you intend to stay, do that soon.” Harmony said.

“Do what?” I asked not sure if she meant babies or marking.

“Marking hun. You know Clive is coming on Friday to meet you?” Harmony smiled and I felt it was fake. I stared and she chuckled.

“Ryan has a mild concussion.” Audra said.

“I know I heard her human boyfriend abused her or something.” Harmony said as a woman put down tea cups in front of us.

“He’s not my boyfriend. We broke up.” I said.

“Well she’s well enough to answer that.” Harmony said.

“We broke up and I met David a couple days later.” I said.

“Isn’t the mate bond funny like that?” Harmony smiled again. The same woman appeared with a tea pot and started pouring tea into the cups.

“I guess so. It’s been a whirlwind that’s for sure. Im still getting used to everything.” I said as Harmony sipped her tea.

“My advice, get out now.” Harmony said.

“Harmony that’s uncalled for.” Audra said.

“No, the Featherman’s can be mean and ruthless. Clive is the worst. George and I were so in love and he still tried to end it. If you’re not completely serious about David. Leave now.” Harmony said and I was speechless.

“Did George put you up to this?” Audra whispered.

“No. I warned you, but it was too late when we met, you were marked. She’s still free to choose.” Harmony’s voice was slightly deeper, more serious in a way.

“Harmony I don’t think this is a good subject.” Audra was always so nice. It was different to see her annoyed.

“Audra please. Humans are different and Clive will eat her alive. David is nice and all, but seriously.” Harmony turned to me. “You feel the mate bond differently, you’re not in love with him. For us it was hard, that bond making your heart race every time you set eyes on them. Craving that mark. Our bodies begging and wanting it desperately so. Ya know, I can teach you how to reject him.” Harmony smiled and I just stared.

“No one is teaching anyone how to reject.” Audra said sternly.

“I’m not rejecting anyone.” I said grabbing my cup and adding sugar. I slowly stirred the cup and then took a sip. I looked at both of them staring at each other. Glaring and then Harmony sat back and sighed.

“I knew George put you up to this!” Audra said.

“I’m sorry Ryan, he only wants what’s best for the pack and I agree. Humans are dangerous, they start wars for no reason. She was here three weeks and there’s issues.” Harmony said as a woman brought out salads for each of us.

“So your plan is ruining David’s chance at happiness, because you both hate humans?” Audra said seemingly angry. I started eating, I didn’t really know what else to do.

“Oh Audra, hate is a harsh word. I don’t hate humans, I hate what humans do. You know, being a half breed, you should be convincing David how hard it was growing up.” Harmony started to eat as well and Audra seemed taken aback.

“It wasn’t hard growing up! The only hard part was not having my wolf and that changed! And you know I don’t like being called half breed!” Audra was getting more upset then I was.

“If David marks me, are you going to stop telling me to leave?” I asked.

“I guess so. Things are pretty permanent at that point.” Harmony continued to eat.

“Don’t tell me you’re now thinking of doing it to prove some point to this family.” Audra asked.

“No I was curious.” I said grabbing my cup and sipping from it. “I don’t have intentions of leaving. They can keep asking me to. As long as David wants us to be together, then I don’t intend to leave.” I said and smiled at Harmony before going back to eating.
