I heard my phone buzzing on my nightstand. I opened my eyes still in David’s embrace. The buzzing woke him also as he stretched and looked at me. A smile spread a crossed his face as he leaned in and kissed me again and again. “Good morning.” He said leaning back up and looking at me. I rubbed the stubble on his chin. “Good more handsome.” I smiled back. My phone started to buzz again and David moved. I reached over and grabbed it. I sighed seeing it was my mom. “Great.” I said before I looked over at David buttoning his pants and looking around. “Can’t find my belt.” He said. I looked around and then reached under the blanket. “Here.” I pulled it out and my phone started going off again. David leaned over and kissed me. “Going to start some breakfast.” He said as he stood back up clasping his belt. I nodded answering my phone. “Hey mom.” I said watching David walk out. “Ryan, I’ve been calling all morning.” She said urgently. “What’s wrong?” I asked slightly concerned. “Matt called. He said you call the police and cheated on him. It’s not true, is it?” My mom asked and I sighed. “You need to stop talking to him. I only threaten to call the police because he stole my car.” I said. “He stole it!?” My mom was shocked. It was evident Matt chose to leave parts of the story out. “Yes mom. Tonya left it at the apartment and Matt took it. When we got there, the car wasn’t even there.” I said annoyed. “What about the cheating?” My mom asked. “Mom you know I wouldn’t do that. Matt has it in his head we’re together still or that we were on a break.” I sighed. “Once things have cooled, I’ll call and explain it better to him.” “There is someone else? You’re seeing someone else?” My mom asked for clarification. “Yes.” I said and there was silence on her end. “Are you there?” I asked. “Yes, I’m just surprised.” My mom said. “Why is that surprising?” I asked. “You were just with Matt in a relationship a couple weeks ago.” My mom said. She sound annoyed that I would move on. “I can’t discuss this. I’m going.” I said getting out of bed. “Ryan.” My mom said in her annoyed voice. “Bye mom.” I said before hanging up. I walked into the bathroom and started the shower. I quickly got in and washed up. I didn’t want to make David wait too long. I got out wrapped in a towel and walked into the bedroom. I went into my closet grabbing a quick shirt and shorts to throw on. I put on a clean pair of underwear and finished getting dressed before I made my way down stairs. I could hear something cooking as I approached the kitchen. David stood there shirtless making food. “That’s dangerous you know?” I said and he turned and smiled. “There you are! Wait what’s dangerous?” He asked. I walked up wrapping my arms around him. “First cooking shirtless, second looking this sexy as you cook.” I said looking at him. He started to laugh as he leaned down kissing my lips. “I must warn you, I’m not much of a cook.” He said as he moved around eggs in a pan. It was a attempt to scramble and I smiled at him. “It looks good.” I said kissing his shoulder. I walked over and grabbed bread. I started making some toast. “So how’s your mother?” David asked and I sighed. “Matt has told her some false information.” I said as the toast popped and I started buttering it. “Your ex and your mom talk?” David took the eggs off the burner and turn to me. “Yes, I told her to stop talking to him. We stayed with her before we moved here. Matt and I were together for five years.” I looked at him and he watched me still. “I thought I told you that?” “No, you only mentioned you had recently separated. It’s honestly not a big deal.” David said as he walked over grabbing plates. I got into the fridge and pulled out some shredded cheese. He watched as I sprinkled cheese on mine. I looked at him and he had his eye brows raised. “You don’t like cheese on your eggs?” I asked and he shook his head. “I’ve just never tried it.” David said. “You’re joking? You’ve had a omelette I’m sure right?” I asked and he slowly nodded and then looked confused. “It’s like a folded egg pocket with stuff inside.” I described. “No I know what it is, I just can’t remember the last time I had one.” David said. “This is a ridiculous conversation, let’s eat.” I said and he laughed picking up the plates and carrying them to the table. “So was your mom upset that you’re seeing someone new?” David asked. “I think she believes him that I cheated. She can’t believe I would move on I guess.” I said and watched David as he just ate. I continued to eat but the silence felt uncomfortable. He finished eating and sat back. “Has he set up when he will drop your car off so I can have Hunter go get it?” David asked. “I haven’t messaged him.” I said slowly eating. “Do you want me to call him?” David said with a serious face. “No, I can handle this myself.” I said. “It’s no problem.” David said shrugging. “No, I don’t need my boyfriend to fight my battles.” I laughed taking a bite. “Boyfriend you say?” David asked and I suddenly realized what I said. I quickly looked at David who was smiling from ear to ear. “So does that mean you’re going to accept my offer to enter into a relationship?” David asked.
