I was at a loss for words. David’s smile started to fall.
“Oh.” David said as he got up. I grabbed his hand quickly stopping him.
“I’m sorry, it’s just that I mean.” I looked for the words. “Is it not too soon? I’m sorry I just think about that day where you left because you felt like it was too soon.” I said quickly.
“Ryan, I was the one that first said I wouldn’t mind being in a relationship.” David said slowly and clearly.
“If it doesn’t scare you, and the mess of yesterday didn’t scare you. Then I’m all in.” I said and David smiled once again.
“Ok, then it’s settled.” David pulled me up from my chair wrapping me into tight hug. I knew he was happy, but I was the one uncertain now. He loosen his embrace and kissed me. “I want to stay, especially now, but I do have to go.” David said kissing me again.
“You do?” I asked.
“Yes, I have to see Will and George for a bit, then I can come back.” David said and I nodded.
“It’ll give me time to talk to my mom and Matt.” I said and David stiffened.
“Y-yes. Sounds good.” He faked a smile and then walked towards the stairs.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be for my car. I’ll let you know when it’s ready to be picked up.” I said following David up stairs. We got to my room and David retrieved his shirt. He put it on and I walked over.
“Nooooooo.” I whined and he laughed as he buttoned his shirt.
“I’ll be back later, then you can help me take it off again.” He said in a suggestive tone and I rubbed my hands on his chest.
“You can count on it.” I said pushing myself up slightly to kiss his lips.
“The sooner I go, the sooner I can be back.” He said and I nodded.
“See you soon then.” I said and after one more quick kiss he was on his way out. I listen until I heard the door shut. I rushed to my phone and grabbed it. I clicked Tonya right away.
“Yeah.” I heard Tonya and a absurd crunching sound.
“Hey. Are you eating? Is this a bad time?” I asked.
“No, I’m snacking on chips. I’ll put them aside for now.” She said and I heard rustling. “Ok, what is it?”
“I accidentally called David my boyfriend and then he got excited. He then-!” I was talking quickly but Tonya interrupt me.
“You made it official!?” Tonya squealed. “This is great news!”
“You don’t think this is too soon? This is soon.” I said and Tonya scoffed.
“Stop Ryan. You like him.” Tonya said and I let out a long exhale.
“I do. Also oh my god, we finally… you know… and it was amazing.” I said thinking about how amazing it felt to be with him.
“And you don’t want a relationship!? Ryan what are you scared of?” Tonya asked.
“I’m not scared. I just have a uneasy feeling about it all.” I said not sure if it was the fact I just got out of a relationship or the fact entering into a new one where I already felt so close to him was the reason for my apprehension.
“Ryan, just let this happen. You deserve to be happy. You seem so happy yesterday with him. I mean, except when Matt was around.” Tonya said.
“This reminds me I need to call Matt.” I said and Tonya made a disgusted sound.
“Good luck to you.” She said and I slightly laughed.
“I’m going to get it over with.” I said with slight annoyance in my voice.
“Ok, be happy! The handsome man wants you to be his girlfriend!” She said in a demanding way and hung up. I shook my head as I scrolled my phone. I hovered over Matt’s name. I clicked it and listen to it ring.
“Hey.” I heard his voice. I could instantly that he was stand offish.
“Hey Matt.” I said.
“Ryan, I just can’t wrap my head around everything.” Matt said.
“First, I want you to stop talking to my mom.” I said demanding.
“Me and Lisa are friends.” He said and I groaned.
“It’s Lisa and I! That doesn’t matter, you’re telling her false information! You know I had to convince her I didn’t cheat on you. My own mother!” I said as my anger rose.
“How is it possible?” Matt’s voice was equally as anger.
“I met David the day you moved out. Like I said before, We. Are. Over.” I said it slow so he could get it.
“I LOVE you!” Matt said and I could hold back.
“I don’t feel the same way! I don’t! I’m with someone else! I’ve been stuck STUCK with you for a year where I felt our relationship was crumbling. Why can’t you realize that?” I said just too angry to see straight. There was silence. The silence was so long I had to check the call was still connected.
“I’m sorry you felt that way.” Matt’s voice shook. I knew he was on the brink of tears. It felt awful knowing I was the one to bring him there.
“Just… just leave my car at Tonya’s. I’ll pick it up.” I said ready to end this call.
“Ok, I’ll text you when it’s done.” Matt’s voice was monotone.
“Good. Thank you.” I said and the call ended. I pulled out my phone and text David that Matt would drop the car off at Tonya’s.
