*David’s perspective*
“This is a bad idea David.” Audra said as I sat behind my desk rocking back and forth.
“So?” I said with a smile.
“If William finds out, which he will, then they’ll void the contract.” Audra said.
“They won’t do anything.” I stopped bouncing. “Wait did you tell him?” I asked and the door opened.
“Of course she told me! A human David? A human?” William strolled in with obvious disappointment. William looks a lot like me, as brothers do. He was slightly taller, dark hair, but a slender build.
“So she didn’t tell you that she’s my mate?” I said smiling.
“David!” William groaned. “Even more reason for her to not be here!”
“George is going to make you reject her anyways.” Audra said as William nodded.
“Because George is Alpha he can just make us reject our mates?” I said looking at them.
“Can’t he?” Audra said and William looked confused.
“I don’t think he can.” I said and started rocking my chair again.
“Everyone can smell the human on her.” Audra said.
“Once I mark her, they’ll only smell my claimed scent.” I smiled.
“I heard human’s can’t feel the mate bond like us. So it will be interesting to see how you do this with out telling her well, everything.” William said. I stopped and looked at him.
“A bet? Am I smelling a bet?” I asked with a grin.
“One month.” William said leaning on the desk.
“Two!” I said quickly.
“Oh my goddess, I work for idiots.” Audra said.
“Fine, two months!” William snickered.
“If I win, I get your big office!” I said laughing.
“Fine if I win, I get that sports car you never drive.” William laughed.
“What! No that’s my baby!” I said and William shook his head.
“Then I’ll go right to George and tell him.” William said.
“I’m not scared of George.” I scoffed.
“Fine I’ll go now.” William said turning to the door.
“Deal deal!” I yelled out and William strolled back over putting his hand out. We both shook and laughed.
*Ryan’s perspective.*
“Finally you pick up!” I said to Tonya who was eating into the phone.
“I was hungry and I was out getting some food since your fridge is empty.” Tonya said and I sighed. “Well? How did it go?” She asked.
“The more I sit here, the more I feel like I made a mistake.” I said.
“Is he weird? Did he make a pass at you to be hired?” Tonya gasped. “Did you take him up on his pass and slept with him!? Ryan!” Tonya giggled.
“No! Tonya!” I scolded her.
“Just tell me.” She said with a half laugh.
“I have to relocate out here and start tomorrow.” I said and there was silence on the other end.
“Where’s here?” She asked.
“I can’t say, I had to sign a privacy waiver for the business?” I said and Tonya gasped.
“The mob!” She said and then laughed.
“Not the mob! Well he told me it wasn’t the mob.” I said.
“Yeah because he’s really going to say in the interview, sign this! It’s mob stuff.” She said as a tap came at the door.
“I have to go, he’s here for the tour.” I said.
“Call me after!” She demanded.
“Be there when I call!” I yelled and hung up. I walked over to the door and opened it. David stood there and smiled.
“Ready?” He asked and I nodded. “Shall we then.” He held out his arm and I took it. “First a tour of our offices. I will show you where you will be working.” He said and I nodded. We walked in a uncomfortable silence. “Ryan? That’s a interesting name. What’s the story behind that?” David asked as we got to the door.
“Oh, um it was my dad’s idea. He thought the best way for a woman to survive in a man’s world was to have a strong name. He named me after my grandfather.” I said as we stopped by the first set of offices.
“Really? What a interesting concept. Well these are our customers service offices.” He waved his hand out. “Of course most people have gone home for the day.” He said turning and walking back out towards another hall.
“I heard your brothers work here as well?” I asked and he nodded.
“William and George. You will probably never see George, he doesn’t really come around here. He stays at the pa…” David started to cough.
“Are you ok?” I asked and he nodded.
“Excuse me, he stays at the… town hall type place.” David said.
“He lives at town hall?” I asked confused.
“No he works there. From there. He has a political position!” David’s voice raised to each answer.
“Ooooook.” I said.
“Here is the accounting area! And your desk will be here.” He lead me through a cluster of cubicles. We came to one that was completely empty.
“Oh it’s nice!” I said smiling at him.
“Tomorrow when you come in, Audra will introduce you to Angela. She will show you the ropes.” David smiled and his smile was infectious. I smiled back at him and for a moment I wasn’t sure what else to do. “Are you hungry? Let’s go get something to eat.” David said and I nodded. “Perfect!” He said and we slowly walked out towards the main entrance.
“I didn’t see upstairs.” I said as we closed distance to the door.
“Let’s finish it tomorrow!” He said gleefully.
