We had barely stepped out of the car when one of the gate-watchers came running.
"Alpha Kael,Clara forced her way past us. We couldn't hold her."
She was on the front steps. Her dress was loud and her makeup was louder. She came down the stone in a clatter of heels.
"Elena!" Her voice cracked across the courtyard. "You disgusting little,Liam is ruined because of you. Have you no shame at all?"
Her hand came up to strike me. Kael rolled between us before I had fully registered the movement.
"Who let her past the gates?" His voice was very level. "Get her out."
Clara stumbled back a step, but pride or stupidity kept her mouth open.
"Alpha Kael,you really think she's clean? She slept in Liam's bed for eight years. You're sleeping on another man's leftovers."
