I had not opened my mouth to answer when the door swung wide. Rowan rolled Kael into the room. He was carrying a basket,premium tonics, healing herbs, the kind of restoratives only the wealthiest packs kept stocked. Kael's eyes settled on Liam with the cool patience of a man considering an insect. "You dared to come and pester my mate?" Liam's face went the color of curdled milk, but his mouth couldn't keep itself shut. "Alpha Kael,am I wrong? You can't give Elena a real life. Even Auntie agrees,she should leave with me." Kael turned to my mother. His face was perfectly courteous. "Auntie. I'm Kael. Elena's fated mate." She looked him up and down and her mouth twisted. "So you're the cripple. Let me make myself plain.
