Kael ordered him hauled out.
Liam wrenched suddenly out of the guards' grip and threw himself at me. His fingers clawed at the hem of my dress.
"Elena! I was wrong! I was wrong about all of it. Come back. Please. Come back."
He gripped harder.
"Come back. I'll bond with you. I'll mark you. I'll give you anything you want,anything."
I kicked him in the chest.
"If you've lost your mind," I said, "the pack has a ward for that. Stop disgracing yourself in front of me."
He sprawled back onto the gravel. His eyes were red and wet. His fingers dug into the dirt as though he could anchor himself to it.
"It ended the day you handed me to Alpha Kael," I told him. "I will tell you this once, Liam. Listen carefully. There is no version of this story in which I go anywhere with you."
