A NEW DAWN

My name is Damon Heathcliffe and are you?” Came the question that perplexed her. ‘Why was he acting like what happened wasn’t even real’, her mind still overcome with thoughts, her body riddled with fear as Damon stared deeply into her eyes. Aurora felt captivated by his beauty as the faux hearth gave off its radiant light. His hair was combed backwards and little strands of his dropped in front of his forehead, his jaw line. Masculine and his suit couldn’t hide his jaw-dropping features and his eyes were blood-red. Aurora had never seen such a color that made him attractive. “Done admiring me” he asked, smiling mischievously, blushing Aurora blush and pout her lips. “I asked a question, missy, and you still haven’t given me an answer” he said. Aurora thought, despite his enthralling appearance, he was rude and impish. She looked at him uncertain of what he was requesting and what she had gotten herself into. “What do you want with me?” she asked him the same question over and over, but he still hadn’t answered her. He looked at her and released himself from that crouching position and stood up, stretching his hands towards her and she grabbed it. Aurora’s thoughts wandered again. His hands were soft and warm, and she nearly gave in to her urges to hug him. “Answers” he said, snapping her from her thoughts. “I need answers," he completed “Answers to what exactly” she pointed out, noting the fact that he hadn’t stated what he wanted He looked at her with a mocking smile across his face which made aurora uneasy. “What’s your name” he asked her, not minding the question she threw at him. “Aurora” she replied. “Aurora what?” he asked again, not minding her reply. Aurora thought hard for more than a second, and then it suddenly hit her, her eyes widening in realization. “I can’t……… I can’t remember” she stuttered. She slowly put her hands on her forehead as she became lightheaded, and she suddenly collapsed on the marble floor, her vision half blurry. She saw Damon crouch again. “As I suspected” he said, not minding that Aurora lay weak on the floor. She stirred at him with sleepy eyes, wondering what he was saying. “If you try to remember, you will activate their curse. Those witches were clever,” he commended. “But not too clever” he finalized. Standing up, he walked towards his desk and sat down. Aurora lay like a dead man and soon her vision was engulfed in darkness. *************************** Damon sat on his chair and watched as Aurora suddenly became unconscious. He snapped his fingers and Emilia appeared in front of his table bowing her head in order of respect towards him. “Is the guest room ready?” asked Damon. “Yes sir” she replied, her head still bowing face facing the floor. “Take her to the guest room and get a hot bath ready for her and also a change of clothes” he commented, noticing the torn dress she was wearing. Emilia turned around and noticed the aurora lying still on the ground; she wondered how she got there in the first place and dared not ask her master questions. She went straight toward where Emilia crouched down and stretched her arms and placed them on her palms as she slowly disappeared, leaving no trace and taking Aurora with her. Lucien appeared suddenly like a gust of wind and stood in front of the table. “So what did you find out?” Asked Damon, who didn’t look at him directly but stared at two sheets of paper in his hands. “Sir, I couldn’t find anything interesting about Azuriel” he said, keeping his sentences short, observing and waiting “Yes, I am waiting” Damon said half impatiently, as he kept looking at the papers he was holding. Lucien saw how engrossed he was at what he was doing but had no other choice but to continue. “But I snuck into one of the witches' hideouts. They seem to be preparing for something, sir” he assumed. “They call her paidi tou Thanatos, sir, and the witches are determined to kill her.” Damon dropped what he was holding and slowly spun his chair to face Lucien. His left brow raised in a questionable way as he stared at Lucien directly in the eye. Lucien already knew what he was thinking, and he knew that if he was going to dig deeply in that way it wouldn’t end well, but that was the kind of thing his master loved, craved and delighted in and Lucien was happy enough to fulfill his wishes. “Paidi tou Thanatos” he called out in a soft tone, not minding Lucien’s presence. “Does witches, are insane, but now I can see why they want her dead” he said, leaving Lucien utterly confused. “Lucien, I want you to keep an eye on her,” he said, “If she really is what they say she is, we will find out sooner rather than later”, he emphasized. “Yes sir” Lucien replied and like that he was gone, leaving only a gust of wind that blew over his face. “Paidi tou Thanatos huh” he repeated the words that Lucien said. He looked at the ceiling and grinned “But this is going to be fun”. ********************* Aurora awoke to find herself on top of a bed. She sat still and looked at the bed she was in. it had marble floors and a fireplace that illuminated the room. On top of the fireplace were decorative ornaments and a painting was hung above the fireplace. She got down from the king-sized. She went and tiptoed across the room towards the door. She touched the handle, but before she could open it she felt an ominous presence watching her. She suddenly turned around and peered at the huge room. “Hello? Is anyone here?” she whispered, trying hard not to attract the attention of Damon, who was holding her captive. “You know it was wrong to leave without saying goodbye” a voice said from behind her, startling her as she moved back in fear. She watched as the black-haired lady edged closer towards her. Her eyes were as green as emeralds and the maid's gown she wore really brought out her curves. She is the definition of beautiful. “My master was right in keeping you” she commented. “Your master?” She asked, still a little freighted over her sudden appearance as she focused carefully on her face to know if she was a threat. “Yes Master Damon”. She replied. “I believe you two have already met.” Aurora suddenly understood he wasn’t just a demon, he was rich and bastardly rich at that. “If there is one thing I am sure of, it is that you are not ordinary” she said, catching auroras' attention. “You were able to detect my presence while I had cloaking magic on me which, of course, no ordinary human can do”. Aurora’s mind went back to what Damon had said. A lot of people were after her, but not just ordinary people but demons and witches, people who were very powerful in divine arts. “What are you then?” she asked Emilia, who stood there quietly. “I am a Vampire” came the reply that shook Aurora to the core. She didn’t know that vampires also existed, and now she was hearing this she wondered what else was hidden in this mansion and her curiosity had just risen to its peak. She wondered what else she would discover, but she knew one thing; she was in for one hell of a ride.
