This is so exiting, I wasn’t expecting a strong player to take us under his wing on the first day! Thank you CoinNerd69, you’re our savior. I’ll definitely be trying to power up to be able to swim to thank you in person ;)

I rolled my eyes and closed the chat window. What a show off, humble-bragging to the server about his stats like that. I saw right through his act. He was just trying to use people to get ahead.

Oh well, he wouldn’t get very far sitting back on the chat and accepting praise. He wasn’t even being careful about who he trusted. He was just letting anyone into his inner circle, not even knowing their intentions or vetting them. Did he think he was invincible just because he had 9 strength and a gun? Or was this his 5 intelligence gearing up to bite him in the ass? Oh well, I suppose it doesn’t matter. I likely wouldn’t have to worry about him for long.

I put two hours in my oxygen tank this time, and headed back out into the water for more oxygen collecting.

My thoughts drifted back to CoinNerd69 on the swim. 80 sanity? The guy’s probably a lunatic if I’m at 100. He must be seriously deranged.

And a gun, really? What will you even do with a gun underwater? Will it even fire from your bubble without popping it?

Bragging about his 9 strength when another player has a higher one rubbed me the wrong way too. A 250 pound limit? I can’t do it, but that’s pretty average for an athletic guy. It’s nothing to brag about.

And a 5 in intelligence? This guy must be as dumb as a box of rocks. What did that asterisk by his intelligence stat even mean? Everything about this guy rubbed me the wrong way.

I finally made it to the closest kelp field, and put my 9 oxygen bubbles in my inventory, when I remembered something from my stat page.

Rare net: -50% encumberance (I wonder what this could hold…)

No. It didn’t make sense. But then, neither did being able to touch oxygen bubbles, live inside them, and put them into invisible inventories.

So, I tried putting an oxygen bubble in my net to carry. To my surprise, it held! This was a game-changer. While everyone else could only transport 9 oxygen bubbles at a time, who knows how many this net could hold?

Over the next hour, I put bubble after bubble into my net, until eventually, I find out the answer is 50 oxygen bubbles! That’s 25 hours, over a full day, while most of the other players are probably scrambling back and forth to accumulate enough just to sleep tonight.

I brought the oxygen bubbles back to my station, and put them in my oxygen pool..

The timer now read 26:47:58

Now, I have real breathing room.

I decided to check out my station. It was just a bubble, with a small shelter on the ocean floor.

I entered my shelter. The ground was just damp sand, the walls dripped from the droplets occasionally flung from the oxygen depletion from the bubble’s instability, and the cot was incredibly uncomfortable, but it was better than lying on the wet sand.

I exited my simple shelter and glanced around my bubble at the multiple spots that had an option to build on.

A water filter? That would be incredibly useful once the starter chests run out. Even with only the starter chests, with what they give us I won’t die, but I’ll be mighty hungry and thirsty if I can’t source my own food and water. I’m already pretty thirsty from rationing my water.

But where would even I get a deep sea reverse osmosis filter? A loot chest? A fight of some sort? Or would I have to craft it myself? Scavenge it? There were too many possibilities. I filed it away in my memory and looked at the other potential builds.

That was pretty cheap, and I’d need it eventually to make blueprints, but I decided to hold off for now. I don’t know how valuable stone will be yet, or what else I can build with it. I might need those 3 stone for something else. I look at another potential option, this time beyond the bubble border.

Fire? Underwater? That’d have to be a magnesium fire. But that would get so hot…

Is that why it’s so far away from my station? That would be crazy! I guess I’ll just have to wait and see when I get that far in the game.

After the leisurely tour of my station, I sat and rested for an hour, stretching to relieve the muscle strain already setting in. Then, I ate my seaweed chips for dinner, and had another quarter of my water bottle to wash them down with.

I pulled up my activity stats page once again.

Stamina: 52/100 (Moderatly rested)

Fatigue: 30/100 (You’ve relaxed, but that can only substitute sleep for so long…)

Hunger: 15/100 (You’re not hungry)

Thirst: 20/100 (A bit thirsty)

I filled my oxygen tank with 6 hours of air this time, and set out to collect more bubbles. I found a few gray chests along the way with food, water, or more oxygen bubbles. I was getting more efficient, too. In the 6 hours on my tank, I made 4 trips back and forth, carrying 59 oxygen bubbles each time, and I even found 7 stones along the way!

I was exhausted, but it was worth it. I drank the rest of my water bottle, since I had found 2 more from chests and was feeling parched. I ate a bit of jerky from the chests to go with it. Then, I checked my stats again.

Fatigue: 85/100 (You’re exhausted, why don’t you lay down and sleep a while…)

I didn’t put all of my extra bubbles into the timer; I kept 200 of them out to trade. I was tired, but oxygen bubbles had way more value the first day, while people were just trying to collect enough to sleep. I couldn’t let the opportunity pass me by.

It was almost nightfall, and I was sitting pretty on breathing time. I opened up the server chat again.
