The sound of his name on her lips reverberated in his ears again and again. It muted the sounds of screams and cries of his nightmare. It left him feeling cold. He couldn’t close his eyes in bed. But keeping them open he could only stare at the shut door.
He’d had her in his arms. He’d tasted her lips. He’d admitted to his feelings and she’d reciprocated. It had been everything he’d ever wanted. And it was all based on a lie.
