The phone ruined everything. Amber was right there beside me in the car, perfume clinging to her skin, her dress sliding dangerously up her thigh as she crossed her legs. I had already decided, tonight wasn’t going to end with champagne and polite exits. Tonight would end with her screaming my name into my mattress. The phone buzzed. I ignored it. It rang again.
