Chapter Thirteen The following night Sloan had just locked the door of the free-standing garage at the back of Darcy’s property when he saw the car pull up. No one came to the back of the property, the road was barely a road, and the garage ran parallel to the house with a small paved area of a dozen haphazard slabs. Obviously, the area had never been meant for this use, or any use, other than clandestine activities, because he’d bet the Mercedes driver wanted the element of surprise, and it was just through pure luck that Sloan had been here, in the right place, at the right time.
