Chapter 3The next day, after his fright, Kit stayed close to home. The weather turned wet and wintry, and so no one would question his remaining indoors. Also, he did not hear from any of his high-born companions, which summed up the lack of concern for his welfare that Edmund had pointed out. He tried to join in with his family’s routine cheerfully during daylight hours, but at night, tossing and turning in bed, his thoughts were in turmoil.
