Chapter 2.0
I snapped out of my thoughts as I felt my bestie run her hand through my hair.
"Hey, you okay?" She asked with a hint of worry. I sent her a reassuring smile which she sent back to me.
"What are you thinking about?" She asked softly, her hands still running through my hair. For some reason I actually liked her hands in my hair.
"It's nothing" I said in a whisper although I knew she didn't believe me, I still chose to reply in such.
"You know me better than that don't you?" She sat on my laps cradling me while ensuring our eyes were locked." Talk to me" she whispered softly then placed her head on my neck her hands still moving in my hair
I sighed drawing her closer to me, I love her warmth. "I had a nightmare" I whispered.
Her hands paused for a sec then it resumed it's movement "It felt real Jess, it frightened me"
I paused as I began to replay what happened in my head "I was eaten and... It hurt so much. When I woke up I was too scared to close my eyes. "
Jess moved her head back a bit to look at me."I'm sorry you had to go through that Jane but remember that it's just a dream. "
I nodded although I didn't really agree with her. She gave me a smile and made to stand but I stopped her "Stay... Please" I begged, I needed her warmth
She laughed then brought our heads together "Your legs would suffer later on" she smirked
"I know but I'll deal with that when the time comes" I drew her closer and nuzzled on her bosom before drifting off to a much needed sleep.
........
I opened my eyes to see I was in a weird place. I looked down, my legs were bare and I was floating?
I walked aimlessly until I heard a gunshot. I was bleeding now, I began to fall. But there wasn't an end, it was void of anything.
My stomach began to throb, my blood staining the white robe I was clothed in. I saw a door as I was falling and without a moment of hesitation I opened the door.
I froze, I've seen this people on TV haven't I? I ransacked my brain trying to connect the dots then it clicked.
They were the most wanted robbers in the city, but they were in hiding weren't they. I was starting to grow limp but I slapped myself to stay awake.
' It's just a dream! ' I reminded myself and watched them. They seemed to be rejoicing they we're spraying money around without a care in the world.
I scanned their surrounding and found something that caught my eyes. I could have sworn I've never been here before but I certainly know where this is.
It dawned on me as I crashed on the floor, my blood already depleted.
"Jane! Jane! Jane! Wake up!" I heard Jess screaming and shaking me, my eyes flung open then closed again before slowly opening once more.
I smiled at her, her tears were dropping down my face but I didn't care, she laughed and cried at the same time then hugged me tight.
I coughed. I coughed out blood, I could feel my blood running down my nose but the most exciting was my eyes. My pupils had changed from blue to dark red and blood ran out of it like tears. I shut it as tight as I could.
I could hear Jess gasp as she broke the hug. She helped me up and it was then I realized, we weren't alone all my colleagues were standing entertaining themselves.
"What's wrong with you people! Would someone call an ambulance" Jess screamed angrily at them. I chuckled wanting to talk but instead I coughed out more blood.
Jess helped me away from the eyes of the spectators and sat me down. "Where's your car keys?" She asked.
I felt quite helpless, I couldn't open my eyes and I couldn't talk. I shrugged my shoulders
"I'm so sorry" she whispered crying on me. I has no idea why she was apologizing but I knew she won't stop unless I told her to. With an heavy heart, I opened my eyes.
She froze and I thought she would push me away or do something more heart wrenching but instead she drew me in for a hug. "Your eyes... No one should see that, I'll take you home"
I smiled and nodded my head though it throbbed a lot.
.......
I grunted as she dropped me gently on my bed carefully ridding me of my socks and shoe. She sat me up and handed me a cup of something urging me with her eyes to drink up.
I gulped down the bitter content feeling the need to express my dissatisfaction. "Jess what the heck is this?" I asked with a frown
"You should be glad you can talk now without spitting out blood" she said with a hint of relief at the end." I'm so glad you're okay" I smiled and she smiled back.
My head still hurt,I winced and held my head as the throbbing began to increase. I let out a shrill cry as I fell to the floor, my eyes were bleeding way more than before now.
It hit me hard, I blacked out. The flashes of my dream, they kept on replaying in my head and after a while they stopped. Then the location banged me over and over again before I was released from that hell.
My upper body shot up and I regretted it the next second"where am I?" I turned to see Jess, she was asleep but her face was swollen.
She must have cried so much. My heart ached for her but I needed to do something before anything else. I sighed as I dialed one of my friends in the Armed Forces number.
"Jane!" I smiled for a sec walking out if my room before speaking.
"I need your help" I said in a low serious voice
" Shoot! "There was no hesitation on her voice
" I need you to risk your job on a lead that might promote you or get you fired. "
" Go on Jane"
" Are you sure about this? "I asked with a bit of hesitation. She was my friend, I didn't want her to get fired.
"Jane, I trust you alright so lay it on me, I'll take my chances. " She said in a firm and determined voice
" I found the current hideout of the most wanted robbers in the city"
"... "
" Kate are...."
" I've brought out a book go on" she interrupted me
" They're currently in the S.M.I.L.E.S Factory"I whispered.
" Thanks, check the news tommorow kay? Bye" she hung up after and I sighed hoping o did the right thing.
I went back to bed and dragged Jess into bed with me cuddling her tightly before drifting to sleep.
