We get out of the mall, and I head home. We are planning on going to Katy’s house to watch movies tonight in her backyard. She has a projector and couches and chairs she puts outside. Then there is the popcorn machine, snack, drinks, and it all adds up to a lot of fun. Sebastian and Cooper follow me to my house. No one is home but the three of us. Sebastian gets a drink while I show Cooper the house. We are going up the staircase when Cooper starts asking questions. “It’s just your parents and you?”
“No, it's just my birth mother and me.”
“My apologies, I shouldn’t have assumed.”
“It’s fine Coop.” I lead him into the seating room.
“Where is your mom?” Cooper asks cautiously.
“She died almost six months ago. It will be six months on Monday.” I look out a window at a couple black bird in the backyard.
“I’m so sorry, beautiful.” He has come up behind me.
I try not to hang on to the fact he called me beautiful. It’s probably a pet name he calls everyone. “My father lives about an hour and a half away and I didn’t want to move away. My birth mom and I learned about two years ago lives here. My mom and I did a lot with her. When my mom got cancer, we made plans and well here I am.” I am facing Cooper
“Your dad was okay with it?” Cooper asks. He softly touches my face.
“My dad will do whatever to make me happy. He is a money dad. He throws money at the problem. Hell, I have a credit card with no limit.”
Cooper pulls me closer. He has a cedar smell about him. He laughs. “I think we may have the same father.”
I hug him. His arms around me feels so good. So strong. So protective. I could have stayed like that forever.
“It takes all kinds.”
He kisses my head and lets me go as we hear something on the stairs.
Sebastian turns towards us. You can tell he came looking for us because we were taking too long. I’m sure he believes one of us mounted the other in my bedroom. Not that I’m opposed to the idea. I giggle in my head. Maybe add some hot oil. A whip. Handcuffs. Whip cream. What was I thinking about? Oh Sebastian. My head goes down as Sebastian approaches. “What was taking you all so long?”
“I was just telling him about my family dynamic.” And wonder about hog tying him to make him my personal s*x slave for the weekend.
“Oh, I forgot to tell him about that. I’m sorry.” Sebastian looks so upset with himself.
“It’s fine. Not a big deal.”
Sebastian kisses the top of my head, and we go downstairs. I start a load of laundry while they sit in the living room talking. Their voices rise. I try to finish up as quickly as possible to find out what is going on. That is when I hear a loud crash.
Cooper’s POV
She is simply gorgeous. Five foot four, green, gray eyes, brown hair, and a petite figure. I am completely smitten by her. The corset. The corset. I would love to help her get dressed and undressed. It is no secret to me that Sebastian has a thing for her. It isn’t simply a best friend. Not the way he talks about her. The only people who haven’t figured it out are Wynn and him. Driving to her house I am lost in my thoughts of the brown-haired beauty.
“Earth to Cooper, are you with me?” Sebastian is waving a hand in front of my face.
“Yes, I’m with you.” I’m trying to pretend me zoning out was nothing.
“What were you thinking about?” Sebastian asks as he pays attention to the road.
“I was just thinking about things I need to get done, that’s all. I have a paper I need to finish.” It was completely believable coming from me.
“You worry too much I tell you.” Sebastian shakes his head at me.
“That’s me.” I look out the window trying to clear my thoughts.
We arrive at Wynn’s house. It is a cute two-story home. Wynn invites us inside. She offers me a tour of the house. There is no way I’m says no to this. I’m away from Sebastian and alone with her. Thank you god!
As she talks about her family, I slowly pull her into me. I hug her. I want to protect her from the world. It’s the only thing I can do. She has experienced a great loss. I don’t want her to lose anything else. I call her beautiful and she looks confused then dismissive. I know she has to think I call everyone that when honestly she is the first person, I’ve ever used that pet name on. It is taking every bit of restraint to not kiss her. Something inside of me is jumping up and down commanding me to do it. I can’t though. Sebastian. If she makes a move on me or indicates she wants me to then I will, but not until then.
Wynn goes to do laundry leaving Sebastian and myself alone in the living room. I see Sebastian look me over and his face gets very serious. “You like her, don’t you?”
“Sebastian, don’t be silly.”
“Cooper, I’m just asking for you to be honest with me. Do you like her or not?” Sebastian is leaning forward in his seat.
“Yes I do….” I hate saying it. I look down.
“You son of a….” Sebastian stands up. Staring at me.
“But you don’t have feelings for her.” I say to him in a mimic of his voice.
“I don’t...You are twenty-one. I think you’re a bit old for her. Also, you’ve been around the block a few times.”
“What does that mean?” my voice gets louder. I stand up.
“I just mean you’ve been with quite a few women.” Sebastian spat at him.
“EXCUSE ME! I have not. Don’t start lying about me. I am a flirt, but I’m not a whore.” I have moved closer to Sebastian.
“I just call them like I see them.” Sebastian smirks.
That did it. I hit him. Then he charged for me. Knocking over the coffee table and overturning a chair. We are on the floor fighting when I hear her sweet voice. “BOYS STOP IT!”
I get off Sebastian and look at her. I brace myself for the look of disappointment, but she looks more amused than disappointed. She helps me to my feet and then helps Sebastian. “Clean up the mess. I’m getting the vacuum cleaner. Bash you vacuum.”
“Okay sweetheart.”
“Coop, you can come with me, you have a gash on your face.” Wynn is looking at it and it hurts.
“It’s fine.” I lie.
“No arguing.” She has a very serious no nonsense look on her face.
“Okay beautiful.”
“Seriously,” Sebastian whispers at me.
“Seriously.”
