Show me your eyes!

Aria’s POV   “Time to wake up. Back to school!” Amare’s voice cut through my ears, bringing me back into the waking world. “Come get breakfast!” She called out from the kitchen. I opened my eyes and blinked. I was still exhausted and still in the living room. I lifted myself up. “No wait it’s cold, don’t go yet.” I felt Liam drag me back down, holding me so I couldn’t move. He turned my back to the back of the couch. His eyes looking at me. “You’ve been awake this whole time?” I asked, my eyes threatening to close. “Well just a few minutes before you. But I can clearly see by your grey face that you want more sleep.” He teased. “Duh, but I guess we don’t always get what we want. Now, let’s go eat something.” He let go and we walked to the kitchen. “Remember to look out for this girl called Alyssa.” Ekon said, reading the paper. “I will.” I was ready. I’ve taken a long enough vacation to practice changing into a fairy and back. Time to go back to school and see why everything started.     “You’re back?!” Kylie exclaimed by the lockers. She had been standing with Dylan and Hailey. She ran towards me and gave me a big hug. “How was it? Why didn’t you call me when you got back?” She asked excitedly. I was happy to see her. “It was beautiful, so colorful and fragrant. I even met people there. I must’ve just fallen asleep before I had the chance to call you, sorry.” “No worries, you’re here now. Tell me though, how was your mom, and what people did you meet?” She asked as we walked back to where the others stood. She raised her brows when she said the word “people”. It’d be weird if anyone heard us talking about fairies. Liam walked beside me also interested in the topic. “My mom was so nice, I like her. She is very friendly. At least she is towards me but that’s because she knew my face right away. I don’t think she talks to many people though.” “Aw, she recognized you right away? That’s so beautiful. After all these years she still recognizes her own daughter.” Kylie said, looking up as she was just imagining that specific moment of a mother recognizing her long lost child after many years. “But you also met others?” Liam asked. We stood now with Hailey and Dylan. “Hey guys, what are you blabbering about. Why are we not a part of it?” Hailey asked with a jokingly smile. “Just asking Aria what people she met yesterday.” Liam said and they got curious. “Weren’t you sick or something? How could you be meeting new people?” Dylan said suspiciously. “Yesterday I wasn’t sick anymore. Just took an extra day off to be sure I was healthy enough to come back.” I whipped up. They seemed to understand. Phew. I’m proud of your quick thinking today Aria. I thought to myself. “Who did you meet then?” Hailey asked. “A group of kids, our age. They were five to be exact.” “You know their names?” Kylie was curious. “Were there boys?” “There were three guys and two girls. Uh, their names were I think, Axel, Aiden, Ruby, Molly, and…Eric.” Just mentioning his name sent a pleasurable shiver down my spine. I felt like I missed him. That mate bond was so new to me. I wasn’t sure how to handle these new intense feelings, nor hide them. Liam had seen my reaction to when I had said Eric’s name. He was now observing me. The school bell rang and classes were about to start, everyone was walking fast around us. I saw that Liam was about to leave, so were Dylan and Hailey. They waved at me and Kylie. So we waved back as they turned away. “Are they cute?!” Kylie asked with excitement. At that I could see Liam stop in his tracks, this seemed to grab his attention. Before I could answer I heard a voice speak behind me. I turned around to see Alyssa. I smiled at her. “Hey Alyssa, how are you?” I glanced back to where Liam was but he had disappeared to class already. She smirked at me as she had something in her mind. Something that would not be any good for me but really good for her. “Alyssa hey! I would so like to stay and talk but I can’t be late for class. I have a presentation that needs to be presented today. Hope I catch you later!” Kylie left the two of us with that. The halls were almost empty now and Alyssa walked at a slow pace towards me. “So, yeah… I haven’t been at school for some time. I hope nothing bad happened or anything…” I had no idea what to say. She didn’t say anything at all, was I supposed to do something? “What are you?” Her voice low but confident. I was confused. “Did you forget who I was?” She was now standing in front of me leaning more on one leg than the other with her arms crossed. “No. What are you?” She asked again. How was I supposed to answer that? “Human?” That was true, but only 50%. That she didn't need to know. She scoffed at my answer. “Tell me, do you believe in fairies? Fairytales maybe?” She looked to the side, rolling her eyes as she asked me this. The halls were now empty. “I don’t know, maybe?” What did she want from me? She was acting, not so nice anymore. It was scaring me a bit. But I tried to sound as calm as possible. “I need to go to class, Alyssa. I don’t have time for this now. We can talk about fairies and whatnot later if you have to.” I said and was about to turn away when she grabbed the shoulder of my sweater aggressively and turned me to face her again. “Are you a fairy?” She said with a strict and serious voice. Her brows were furrowed and it looked like she was looking for the truth. With her question I got my question answered. Alyssa was definitely a fairy. I was shocked. I wasn’t sure how well I hid my reaction to her question but a soon as I realized I laughed at her as if she were acting weird and crazy. I guess it didn’t work. She must’ve seen the flash of shock running across my face as she asked because now she was grinning. “I knew it was you.” She pushed me hard against the lockers. I could feel them bend behind me as I crashed into them. I fell to the ground, my shoulders sore from her forceful push. I looked up at her from the ground. She stood over me, her eyes glowed light pink. I gasped a bit. It was still shocking to see fairies. I wasn’t used to it, not like this. “Show me your eyes!” She yelled. I sat up and backed further into the lockers to try and get as much away as possible from her. I looked away with closed eyes just in case. “Look at me!” She said angrily. I took a peek and I saw her wings appear and disappear as if she were glitching. “This is your fault. My fairy always threatens to show itself around humans because of you. You shouldn’t be here.” She said, trying to control her fairy. I gathered my courage and slowly stood up while taking a deep breath. I used the lockers as support for I could feel one of my thighs sore. Probably happened when I crashed into the lockers. “Maybe you’re the one who shouldn’t be here.” I hissed out, trying to handle the pain. “What?” She looked really confused. Like, she knew it didn’t make any sense. “Of course I’m supposed to be here. I’m the fairy princess. If it’s anyone who shouldn’t be here it’s you.” WAIT, WHAT? SHE IS WHAT? I was quick enough to hide my shock at her response and quick enough to find an answer. “I’m half human. I also belong to this world. Whereas you don’t.” I said, proud of my answer. “Wait…you’re what?” Oh no…what did I just confess! And to the fairy princess herself! Nononononono “Nothing! Aha just kidding. Can’t believe you actually believed me.” I tried to laugh out. She did not look convinced. I didn’t like lying, but this was something I had to say. If I didn’t, bad things could start to happen. Alyssa did not look convinced at all. “HEY! What are you two doing out in the halls! Do you have a pass?” A teacher called out to us from the other end of the hall. “We don’t!” Alyssa called.  What? The teacher approached us and saw the bent in the lockers after me. He looked at us trying to figure out how we could make this happen. “We also just fought each other just now before you appeared, sir.” Alyssa said politely with a smile. What was she planning? But that sentence alone was enough to ruin my day. “To the principal’s office now!” Alyssa seemed happy with that. One thing was for sure. I did not like her one bit anymore. Ugh.   “Fighting in the school’s halls and ruining the lockers. I’m afraid I’ll have to schedule a meeting with your parents.” The principal said, he felt sorry for us. “Okay, can we have our meetings at the same time so that our parents can also talk it out between them?” Alyssa seemed so focused on this. Looked like she really wanted this all to happen. “Sure if that’s what you want.” He sounded a bit confused but I guess it didn’t matter. As long as there was about to be a meeting then everything was settled.   I told Amare and Ekon about what had happened and that there was supposed to be a meeting. I wanted to tell them before the principal would. I told them the meeting would be with Alyssa. The fairy princess and her parents. “THE ROYAL FAIRIES? The king and queen! The princess is at your school!” Their reaction was to be expected. But I managed to calm them down because the meeting was to happen tomorrow morning.
