Part 11

Cold shivers ran through her spine as she squirmed under his gaze. His gaze was as if it was piercing her like a bullet. His deep captivating eyes were enough for her were enough to remove all the thoughts from her mind at the same time she felt her sanity leaving her.  " Why are you behaving like this?" She asked getting tired of the mixed emotions she felt when she is around and due to his actions. Her voice was mellow but Viraaj could see the battle in her body language that she was fighting to stay here with him.  " What am I doing now? Last time you asked me to eat with you and now I am just asking the same," He looked away from her engaging eyes and took hold the cup of ginger tea to soothe the persistent pain in his forehead.  " I am not talking about food. I am referring to what happened back in that study room of yours and before that." She clearly voiced out the thing that was bothering her enough to make her go insane with her thoughts. She waited for an answer and watched the glass freezing to his lips on hearing her statement.  " Look, Ms Ghosh, I am the boss here. You don't have any right to question me. The reasons for what I did that I did are best known to me. And before you start accusing me of taking advantage of you, I would like to know why didn't you tried to shout? You seem to have a body language of a tough lady Ms Ghosh, How come you kept quiet when a man was molesting you or manhandling you? I am sure you are not like this with other men then why Ms Ghosh? I will answer your questions once you answer mine." With every word toppling out of Viraaj's mouth, Ina felt herself falling in the pit of embarrassment.  What shall I tell you Viraaj when I am myself not aware why things are happening the way they are with you? Ina's eyes held his gaze and tried to find any type of teasing or humour so that she could find a way to get back at him but she couldn't find any. His face was devoid of any expression as he kept back his glass and crossed his one leg over other.  " There is nothing like what you think, Mr Thakur. I am a very plain and simple girl hailing from a good and sophisticated family. I am not comfortable with men like the girls in these offices are. That's why I stood shell-shocked when you lept forward towards me. I am here to work sir and only on that basis, I asked what I asked. I have no other personal intentions on knowing your behaviour because that's your life and I have no rights to comment or ask you that. I just want you to know Sir, if this is how I will have to manage in your company then I don't think I would be able to continue any further."  Ina pronounced each and every word with such patience and ease that it somehow disturbed Viraaj. This is not how he had expected her to react on his answer, in fact, he had wanted her to confront with that feisty nature of hers that enthralled more than any other feature of hers. She knew the questions that were put forward by him were basic facts but she didn't want to give him the satisfaction of being right.  His penetrating gaze bored into her eyes and thought of what was going in this little girl's mind that she wasn't acting like that anymore. He heard each and every word and all his inner peace started dwindling into the thin air on the very thought of her absence. But at the very same time, he somehow expected her to say like this to him someday but he just never thought that the day would arrive so soon that will leave him speechless.  The way his stare bored into her, Ina felt herself shaking with the intensity, nonetheless, maintained a very calm and composed posture. Making him know that he makes her nervous was the last thing she would want to do. She peered at him when he suddenly got up from his chair and moved towards her. He hunched towards her caging her with his body while she pressed herself deep into the headrest to maintain some distance with him.  " Listen, Ms Ghosh, Listen carefully because I won't repeat it twice. This is my office in which you are working. Here, I dictate terms and conditions and not anyone else. You can't leave the company until and unless I give you permission. And if you do want to leave the company, you can but also be prepared to stay jobless as I will make you that you won't get any job in any of the companies." Viraaj enunciated each word with a threatening edge in his voice which made Ina look at him in pure helplessness.  " And about the things that happened before were just because of the rage of emotions that overpowered my mind. Other than this, I owe you no more explanation. It's just a matter of a few days and then any which ways, you will be back to your normal routine. But yes, I assure you nothing of that sort will be repeated," Looking at her glistening eyes, Viraaj couldn't help but say those words and assure her the things which he himself didn't know whether he would be able to stand on his words or not. But the helplessness in her eyes just twisted something in his heart and he didn't want her to feel unsafe with him. That's not what he was. He would never want to get close with a girl who had the least interest in him. However, Ina was an exception. He agreed that he did get close to her without her permission but he blamed it all to her eyes that oozed innocence and showed the sheer desire for him whenever he looked at her. He had indeed been with many women who had consciously seduced him to get intimate with them but none of them had the power that this seducing pair of eyes did. You, Ms Ghosh, will sure give a tough time for the remaining days, he sighed to himself while holding the gaze of the said women whose expression seemed very unknown to him.  Viraj's words echoed in Ina's mind as she felt all the energy losing her body when she concluded that all the times he had kissed her was because of the height of the emotion he had felt. Somewhere, down in her heart, she always knew that about Viraaj but her heart didn't let her believe so. Why the hell I am feeling bad? I should be happy that now he will remain in his limits, she questioned herself and her eyes lowered with the confusion and uncertainty pouncing on her mind like a mighty lion.  " Um... I guess I have no choice but to comply with you," Releasing a breath; she let go off all her confusions and uncertain thoughts which made her voice come out bold and confident just like the way when she had first met him.  Hearing the change in the pitch of her speech, a slightly shocked look crossed Viraaj's features who masked it instantly before Ina could lift her eyes and register his expressions. Her tone was devoid of any emotions and sounded exactly like this- pure business.  A smirk spilt on his face seeing her obliging to his demands. He knew that she already had an idea that he had intentionally trapped her but internally he was strong on one main point and that was he would stand by what he had said to her. He won't cross his limits unless and until the other person herself comes forward to him.  There will come a day, Ms Ghosh when you yourself will come to me. Someday, you will realise that whatever I did was not only just acceptable to me but also to you. Someday, Ms Ghosh. Someday, his heart quietly whispered looking at the beauty who was now grabbing her phone and making her way out of his cabin. It's good that you will now stay away from me, Mr Thakur because now I am 100% sure that you will ruin me completely if you got any more close, the logical side of Ina's mind reasoned as she walked out with slouched shoulders and slightly laboured breathing.  " Ouch," Taking a  few steps away from his cabin, a shriek just left Ina's mouth when she dashed into someone who felt as if he is made of nothing but bricks and cement. " I am sorry, Ms Ghosh, I hope I have not hurt you," A fairly gentle baritone graced her ears and she looked up to find the same nice-looking man standing in front of her who had handed over some files to her which was given by this very devil.  What was his name? Ayaan? Arhaan? Urgh... When will I remember names? "No no, I was the one who was not looking," Ina silently replied with her lips barely moving as she still continued to digest the things that happened with him. Saying this she quickly moved from that place, feeling awkward for a strange reason which she herself didn't know.   A sullen look was all that one could see as she dragged her chair and sat with her mind going completely blank. A light shake on her hand made her turn towards the point of source to find Riya looking at her with a question mark written on all over her face. " What's happening, Ina? Why are you so quiet?" Riya asked with concern flowing in her tone and worry lurking in her eyes.  What should I tell you, Riya? The more I am trying to come out of some mess, the more I am getting deep into it. " Nothing just work-related stuff," She dusted it off and asked Riya to join her for a cup of coffee to get some caffeine boost. But in reality, all she was doing was changing the topic of focus. She didn't want to talk or think about anything that was related to the man that was sitting a few steps away in his lavish and extravagant cabin, unaware of the trouble he was causing her.  *** " Here you go. Now tell me, is he giving you a hard time?" Riya shot her first question as I took the coffee mug from her hand and inhaled the rich aroma which seemed to act like an aromatherapy medicine that instantly gave me relief from that blank mind of mine.  " The bunch of files you saw on my table, I have to make reports on all of them," Her words came out like the dark coffee beans as she palmed the cup and started enjoying its heat. " What?" Riya's voice raised a few decibels which made everyone give them questioning looks. With a half-murdering gaze, Ina glared at her and she clicked her tongue before whispering," what nonsense? he won't even study that much."  " We can't expect anything from him right?" A quick reminder came from Ina but more than anyone, she knew that the statement was entirely for her.  "Yes yes, I completely agree with you. But I really don't understand the meaning of making reports on that files which are anyway useless," The question didn't surprise Ina because she was already very well aware of Riya's going into the deep psychology though it did make her smile a little.  " Well, maybe he wants to trouble me for back answering him on that day," She coolly passed the statement and sipped her coffee which made her eyes close in delight, relishing the spicy and smoky taste.  This office really has some good coffee machines! " I don't think so, Ina. He may be mean to a hell lot of people but when it comes to working. Nobody can stand his sense of judgement and fairness regarding his employees. That's the reason people are scared of him as well as they respect him too much for his own good,"  Riya affirmed and circled the cup in her hands as it was too hot for her to drink though the mug in Ina's hand froze, listening to it.  " You are supporting him, Riya?  Out of all the people, you?"  A look of complete disbelief crossed Ina's feature when she saw her friend supporting the very guy who once told her to stay clear from his way.  What's really happening? Am I really losing my mind or these people are going crazy?  " Yeah Yeah, I know what all your thinking and I still stand by what I said. I still think you should steer clear from his way but since the last of a couple of days, I have been hearing a lot about him and all those things meant that he has a great sense of judgement," Riya explained herself, understanding her thoughts after reading her expression.  " Now stop looking at me like I have told you I am pregnant that too without a man," She faked a huff and that's all was required to burst the bubble of Ina and make her fall in fits of laughter. To be contd... ***
