❝ 11:11— my wish is that you'll always be mine. ❞ 15|  Wishful Thinking Aviana Sanchez |  | Day 1: 8 January, 8.30pm | I look at the nurse finish patching up Matthia's knuckles. The guy didn't even flinch when she used a q-tip to dab the ointment on his bruises and gashes.  My eyes flicker over to the clock hanging inside the small room. We only had ten more minutes before we had to meet Instructor Lin at the hall we arrived at this morning. "All done, just remember to change the bandages every four to five hours. His bruises should heal soon but the gash might take some time. Take those bandages and that ointment on your way out," The nurse smiled politely before tending to her own things. "Get up, we need to go to the hall, the rest have probably packed up the dinner cutlery and went up already," I say as I grab the items near the entrance. "We have ten minutes Aviana, you're exaggerating." Matthia rolled his eyes. I jump and lock my arm around his neck, Matthia's tall figure bending down to mine. I ruffle his hair, "What can I say? I am a drama queen. Now, get your ass moving at this rate we'll reach the hall tomorrow morning." I scream in his ear before running up the long flight of stairs which leads to the open hall. "You little piece of s**t!" I hear Matthia yell as he chases me, climbing up the stairs at twice my speed. He does have long legs. Daddy Long Legs. Okay, that became weird as soon as I associated that phrase with Matthia. Did you know The Pholcidae are a family of araneomorph spiders, including those commonly known as cellar spider, daddy-long-legs spider, hence the phrase daddy long legs. Damn, I remember Jaden talking about it once. Woah Jaden is really nerdy for someone who looks like he isn't. I heard somebody coughing. Matthia and I shifted our gaze in front of us where all the other groups and instructors were in the hall and all of them were staring at us and this time I wasn't exaggerating.  Jaden looked at me and I could literally read it in his eyes, he was giving the "what-took-you-guys-so-long" look. "Ah shit." Both of us muttered synchronously. My eyes widened and both of us chuckled at each other. The coincidence was exceptional. Guess being best friends had its own perks. "Both of you turned up ten minutes late and still laughing with each other in your own worlds?" Instructor Adrian asked, arching his eyebrow. "And what's with the closeness? Are you two dating?" He pointed at the ten-centimetre gap between me and Matthia.  Everyone peered at us with curiosity. Both of us sighed.  I am so over this question. "We both are dating." Matthia threw a sickly-sweet smile at Instructor Adrian before snaking an arm around my face. Obviously, by his sarcastic tone everyone could understand we weren't dating. Instructor Adrian smiled at us and the small mischievous glint in his eyes didn't go unnoticed by us. Uh Oh. "Uh Oh is right Sanchez." How did he know my name? "Being in charge of these seven watches here I should know about the gossip going around. And you two have been the headlines for today." I said all of that aloud didn't I? "Yes you did." Nisrina butted in and my pointed look shut her up immediately. "Both of you five laps around the hall and the rest of you go to your respective instructors," Instructor Adrian's voice reverberated around in the hall. Matthia could run five laps before I could even finish two but being the amazing friend he is, he ran slowly with me. "You're panting already?" Matthia chuckled, looking at me huffing and puffing air. Beads of perspiration were rolling down the side of my face and I could feel my face being red whereas Matthia stood there without even breaking a sweat. "Let's go and join them, they're waiting for us," I said and both of us made our way to where our watch and Instructor Lin were sitting in a circle in the corner. Andre Serrano | They were always together. It was almost as if they were stuck together by glue, I couldn't find Matthia without Aviana and Aviana without Matthia. No one would believe they were just friends. They couldn't be just friends.  Matthia was the ideal "boyfriend material" whereas I am just a pathetic excuse of a human. I couldn't even fight for her. I'll admit I have f****d up not once but numerous times. Matthia was everything I couldn't be.  Even in this hall where there were fifty people, all I could only see was her. Only her. Aviana Sanchez always took my breath away every time she smiled. What Nisrina said earlier was right. I didn't deserve her. She will never belong to me either.  I wish I could be selfish and call her mine.  I wish she'll forgive me.  I wish I'll get a second chance.  I wish all these wishes can come true.  — love, L
