"Alright Watch 8, listen up!"
All of us turned to where the voice was coming from. It was a woman in her early twenties, her brunette hair tied up in a ponytail. She wore a pair of black joggers and a dri-fit shirt with arm sleeves hiding every inch of her skin below her neck.
She has a smile on her face, enthusiasm radiating off her.
"Let's get moving, we are already running late for the first activity," She clapped for us to take our duffel bags and head with her.
There were many teams back at the campgrounds and we were one of the few heading somewhere further out behind the campgrounds.
"Listen up, place your duffel bags at that corner and sit in a circle where I am right now in five minutes. Hurry up!"
Matthia and I quickly put our bags to the side and sat down, not wanting to be squashed by the others who were placing their bags.
"Move your ass a bit," Jaden whispered. Matthia and I moved a bit to the side making space for him to sit down.
"Alright, settle down, let's introduce ourselves since we will be together for the next five days. I am Instructor Lin, and I have been an Instructor here at this camp for the past two years. Introduce yourselves and say something about yourselves."
I'm just going to call her Lin and wow she has been working here for two years, it must be rough.
Nisrina started, "I'm Nisrina Rodiguez and I am half Spanish and half British."
Explains here accent on different words. Damn, the girl was blessed with two of the most spectacular accents out there.
We can't forget the French. I mean have you heard the words spilling out of their mouth? It's like fine wine.
"I'm Matthia Lee and I am Korean, 안녕하세요." Matthia bowed slightly, blushing at his rusty Korean accent.
[ 안녕하세요 — annyeonghaseyo ]
"That was good, teach me Korean sometime, you mutter words in your sleep you know," I whispered into Matthia's ear.
I could hear the small chuckles rumbling in his chest as I smiled.
"Sorry to cut in but it's you turn Avi," Jaden muttered while gesturing back to the group and seeing that all eyes were on me and Matthia.
"Oh right, sorry—" I cleared my throat.
"—You two wouldn't happen to be a couple right?" Instructor Lin cut me off.
"No, Ma'am," Matt replied.
"Good, I don't want to see any funny business happening."
"I'm Aviana Sanchez, I am Spanish-American and I have travelled to thirteen countries so far." I introduce myself smiling at the memories that just flashed through my eyes for that second.
"I am Jaden Smith, African-American and Nisrina eres una hermosa joya en mis ojos princesa." Jaden winked at Nisrina who was sitting in between Isaiah and him.
["eres una hermosa joya en mis ojos princesa" — you are a beautiful jem in my eyes princess ]
"It's not working on me anytime soon unless you'd gladly accept my fist in your face," Nisrina casually shrugged.
She loves to shrug a lot. Jaden must be flirting as usual in his so-called "hot and sexy" Spanish accent. Jaden learnt Spanish in school, and puts it into "good" use.
"I'm Andre Serrano, I'm Spanish and Eres mia hermosa" Andre locked his eyes with mine, those three words rolling off his tongue like honey.
What is he saying?
He must have practised that line to perfection and used it on every girl he sees since those words seemed so natural coming from his mouth.
I pretended like I didn't know him and ignored whatever he said. He clearly didn't care back then why must I care about him now.
"I'm Isaiah Lee and this is a phrase that my dad has always said this weird phrase to me which I understand now, 무엇보다도 가족," Isaiah said with a foreign emotion as he said the Korean phrase. His eyes desperately seeking the attention of another's.
Whose?
[ 무엇보다도 가족 — family above all ]
I did not miss Matthia scoffing and muttering a few words incoherently under his breath.
I'll ask him about it later.
"Is this what a coding session is? What's with the different languages?" Instructor Lin asked jokingly.
I realised something, there were only six of us here. "Instructor Lin, where is Royce?"
"Oh, he had an injury from a while ago which he had indicated in the form, and he was checked by the on-site medical practitioners and they deemed him unfit for the five-day course."
"Isn't it just a camp?" Jaden asked confused.
"This camp will test all your limits and challenge your physical and mental capabilities. To survive these five days, not only teamwork, you need endurance and physical strength to plough through.
Why did you think you all had to go through medical checkups the week before the camp in your respective schools?
Even if you are allowed to go by your parents, the medical practitioners had to label you as physically fit for you to be approved to go to the camp by the physical fitness department in your respective schools."
"That explains a lot. Moving on it's really hot, anyone has sunscreen?" The basic b***h asked.
Who the basic b***h? Jaden DIVA Smith.
