02| Briefings
Aviana Sanchez |
"Aviana, Matthia and Jaden hurry up! The briefing is starting in a few minutes!" Royce gestured us to get our ass off the chairs and head up to the auditorium. I mean why is the auditorium on the fourth level.
Need to climb eight fricking flights of stairs.
Do we seem like athletes to the school committee?
Forgot to introduce Royce. Royce is the student body head of Willow Park High. Matthia was pissed at the guy for winning the campaign, he also tried out for it but I mean his image kind of offset his wish to become a student body head.
The teachers decided Royce to become head because almost 95% of Matthia's votes were the girl population of the school and they did not want a "charmer" to represent the school according to the principal.
"I see three empty seats there let's go," Jaden whispered.
"Good morning students, the briefing is starting a bit late due to some delayed students—" She shot us a sharp glare from her podium.
"—let me hand over the microphone to Ms Michelle, head of the Physical Education department to give you more information about the camp. I hope you all will have a great time there."
"Great. Let's start, shall we?"
Great use of rhetorical questioning Ms Michelle.
What? My English Literature classes are coming in handy plus exams are in a month.
"Senior students will be separated into two groups. Group A will be going next week from Monday, 8 January to Friday, 13 January while Group B will be going the following week after that from Monday, 14 January to Friday, 19 January."
"I wonder what group we will be in?" I asked excitedly.
"I want some great male hunks to be in my group." Jaden sighed.
"I hope we will be in the same group," Matthia muttered.
"Keep quiet and let me speak Seniors. Each group will be further broken down into watches numbered from 1-52. Each watch will have about six to seven students."
"52 watches?! That's an insane number of teams." Jaden butted.
"Here's the catch. We aren't the only school going. Each group will go with three other schools and their teachers will inform of them of their watches too. So on the day of the camp where all four schools gather, you will break up into your watches and meet your teammates."
"WHAT?!!" Jaden stood up.
"Please calm down Mr Smith."
"Why are we friends with him?" I asked Matthia embarrassedly.
"I don't know."
"Sorry guys." Jaden scratched his neck, his cheeks flushed before sitting back down.
"The school board has sent a mass email to the senior cohort. Please note which Group you are in and what your watch number is. That's all for the briefing."
Excited whispers started to fill the room.
"Settle down students. Do remember this information and do not forget to check which Group and watch you are in. With that everyone is dismissed." The Principal said and everyone started to check their Groups and watches.
I opened my inbox and saw the email awaiting.
"I'm in Group A." I say.
"I'm in Group A" Matthia also chorused.
"I'm in Group B"
"Thank God." Matthia and I hi-fived.
"I'm joking. I thought you guys would feel sad but guess what bitches I'm in Group A sorry to burst your bubble," Jaden huffed.
"Guess what each group already has names underneath. Let me search for my name." I told them.
"So what's your watch?"
"Watch 8: Aviana Sanchez, Matthia Lee, Jaden Smith, Royce Dobric."
"Hell yes, we are in the same group," Jaden yelled.
"Royce?" Matthia turned to me.
"Yeah, Royce, as in student body Royce."
"Great." Matthia rolled his eyes.
"Cheer up Lee, you are stuck with the coolest dude in school." Jaden winked.
"I guess it's my fate to be stuck with you and Royce."
"Don't say that, you know you love me Matthia not sure about the Royce boy though."
"Want to go hang?" Jaden asked us.
"Got to tutor someone else."
"Dance practice next time Smith."
"Awh damn."
"Maybe go brush up your knowledge on the anatomy of the kidney. At this rate, you won't be able to make it to college. Bye Avi... and Smith."
"Bye Matt." I said then turned to a sulking Jaden.
"What he said is partially true you know. I'll make it up next week after the camp milkshake at the shack on me."
"Deal." Jaden shook my hand with a huge smile on his face.
This boy and milkshakes.
"Bye Jade."
"It's Jaden or Smith not Jade. Bye Avi."
Two more days to camp can't wait.
