It’d taken Doug all summer to check his facts, to be sure he wasn’t just imagining things between Fern and Lowell, and then another month to build up enough courage to speak to her. That was after he’d tamped down the anger burning through his heart when he’d realized how badly Lowell had treated his precious Fern.
