CHAPTER FORTY FIVE Reid reached out with both hands, his arms outstretched as far as they could go, but he knew before he hit the river’s surface that he would miss. He smacked into the water in a nasty belly flop, the shock of the cold water as tortuous as the painful landing. It was the least he deserved for letting the man get away, he thought as he was enveloped in darkness and water. Something rough brushed against his face.
