14 Galen Three glorious months passed with me and Ariel spending our nights together as well as our days. I’d stayed on longer at the island than I had the previous years. The weather on the island remained the same as always, warm with clear skies and tons of sun. Back in Portland, Oregon, where I’d purchased an estate for my parents to live, the weather had turned cool as autumn had set in. A call from my mother on Thanksgiving Day had me smiling as I answered my phone. “Ma, it’s so good to hear from you. How is this Thanksgiving Day treating ya?” My family had eagerly started celebrating the North American holiday as soon as they’d relocated to the States, and I was a sucker for it as well. “Very well.
