Chapter Four

The vibe wasn't this cold before. The mansion had a much more vibrant feeling during Samantha's time. Events occurred sporadically throughout her life, as she was a social butterfly. However, deep down, all the events were about her despise for how quiet the mansion is and as an escape from the feeling of loneliness she exudes in her mind. She was an artist, but all her work was put to work in the mansion and in her married life, making her events worth attending. As she would explain it in her words, her message to Christopher is like a jump so high that she doesn't fear falling since she is floating. Indeed, he possessed all the qualities she sought. She understood how to love him unconditionally, never prying into his activities or questioning his actions while he was away on business. Their marriage seems like any other, with its ups and downs, but they both know how to maintain their desired level of privacy. The mansion exudes her artistic touch, with every corner adorned with her carefully crafted creations. She has a knack for collecting antique materials and transforming them into personal treasures, a testament to her dedication and ability to keep herself occupied. The walls proudly display her own artwork, each piece a reflection of her talent and passion. Even her rare and one-of-a-kind perfumes are a testament to her creativity and skill. Her events showcase a curated selection of her most cherished fragrances and artworks for a limited-edition sale. Now, this serene place, which was once bustling with excitement, is quieter than usual. Christopher gazes at an art piece hanging prominently on the wall behind his desk. The golden frame and green ink, which seem to have been randomly thrown on the black painted canvas, create a striking contrast, evoking a sense of spontaneity and intrigue. There's nothing particularly remarkable about it, but it held a special place in her heart. "It seems she has a faint heart." Dr. Mark enters the study room and carefully puts down his emergency kit. He has arrived to assist him with Alora. “So are you going to tell me how you met her?” he inquires as he sits down. "You're just a doctor," he replies, slowly turning around. He strolls around his chair and settles down, gazing at his friend with a grin. "But we both know that's not the only reason I'm here," he says, reclining in his seat. "Listen, I can tell that there's definitely something happening between you two. I know you." "Absolutely nothing." Christopher interrupts him, causing Dr. Mark to look dissatisfied. “She is my new employee, and I want to ensure that accurate information is shared about..." He's reluctant to finish his sentence, as it would require acknowledging the existence of an ongoing situation. "That's why I'm here. I can confidently say that I know that much. However, I'm curious if there's something happening." He restates his question. "I desire her face; that's the only thing I can say at the moment," he responds in a peculiar manner. However, Dr. Mark grins as he leans to his left, his gaze narrowed at his companion. He senses that there is something amiss as Christopher skill-fully evades inquiries. "Oh, and speaking of something else, I could really use your help with the Bulgaria project," Christopher casually mentions, making a statement that takes a quick shift in topic. "I understand; we've discussed that extensively," Dr. Mark replies as he rises from his seat. "But my friend," he remarks as he departs, "there's something brewing, and I can sense it." With a chuckle, he shuts the door, leaving Christopher to ponder in solitude. "Vincent," he summons his security, and Vincent promptly enters the room. “Make sure to have someone hand this to Miss Williams,” he instructs Vincent, extending his hand with the paper to him. “And make sure the flight to Bulgaria is prepared,” he commands. "Immediately," he responds, swiftly making his way to the desk, retrieving the paper, and striding out of the study room, taking extended steps. Christopher immerses himself in his thoughts. Although the situation is confusing to him, he believes Mark is on to something. He knows she is hardworking and beautiful, but there's something far more interesting about her that he would like to unfold. But could it be a matter of the heart? *** Christopher has always been driven and ambitious, constantly seeking new opportunities. He adores the exhilaration he experiences from taking risks. Taking charge of the family business was no small feat. He dedicated himself to the task, putting in countless hours to earn his father's trust. Balancing school and business management became his top priorities. He always lived up to his father's high standards. After struggling to revive his family's business, it eventually succumbed to bankruptcy. The struggling empire was making numerous headlines as their employees expressed frustration over not receiving payment and being let go. Out of nowhere, a different news story captured everyone's attention: The Anderson's Empire welcomed a new king. Christopher approached the business with a fresh perspective and innovative thinking. There were those who questioned his decision to assume control of the struggling business, while others admired his bravery. Somehow, he gained control, and like a stroke of luck, everything began to fall back into place. He is passionate about his work and is dedicated to giving it his all. Every mainstream media outlet was desperate to uncover his secret and unravel the mystery behind his incredible achievements, but to no avail. He maintains a strong sense of privacy and is highly disciplined when it comes to his work. "Is there anything else you'd like to contribute?" Tiffney inquires about Christopher. He is reviewing the contracts he wants the models to sign with him. "Nothing," he murmurs, shaking his head and gently setting it on the table in front of him. They find themselves aboard his private jet, and despite his imminent departure, he is determined to complete this task beforehand. "Here," he says, passing the document to her after putting his signature on it. "May I inquire about something?" She hesitates, but nonetheless, she musters the courage to ask him, and he responds with a nod and a warm smile. "I hope I'm not overstepping," she says, gently tucking strands of her hair behind her left ear. "I believe I understand what you're trying to convey, but I'd prefer to hear it directly from you," he remarks, gazing out of the plane's petite window. "I'm sorry, but I'm really busy," he reminds her, and she lets out a frustrated sigh. Her uncertainty prompts her to question his actions, causing him to furrow his brow in response. "I was anticipating that we would prioritise initial impressions from our initial meeting when selecting higher models." “And that was all I was pursuing,” he said with a smile. "You'll see, everything will be wonderful," he assures her, confident that everything will go according to plan. "Is that all?" he asks, and she responds with a smile. "No one doubts your decision; just double check," she says as she rises from her seat. "Have a safe journey." "See you soon," he bids her farewell. "The usual, sir?" A flight attendant with a cheerful demeanour asks, to which he gives a slight nod. She proceeds to pour whisky over a large ice cube. She casually lets him know they're leaving soon before walking away, leaving him lost in his own thoughts. He gazes out the window, absentmindedly tapping his fingers on his glass.
