Ariana’s POV “What is the news?” Marco asked. My eyes lingered on him, but unlike before—when he masked his expression with poise and calm—this time the irritable anger on his face didn’t fade. Dan’s gaze flicked to me and back to Marco before he said, “I prefer to discuss it with you in private, Alpha.” Normally I would have objected. The conversation we’d just had was about me not getting involved—and this was his chance to prove it—but the tension in the room was heavier than anything I felt ready to handle.
