Little Alpha

*Narrator* Werewolves are born with their wolves. They can hear their wolves, mind link with their pack, have strength and speed beyond any human as well as heightened senses. However they do not shift into their wolf form until their 16th birthday. All werewolves have a mate or mates. Only together, marked and mated, are a set of mates' souls complete. Key words marked and mated. Due to this, although werewolves shift at 16, they do not get the full mate bond until they are 18. They can still feel the pull of their mate bond but not get the urge to mark and mate. In particular, the female wolves don't go through heat until after the age of 18.  *Calypso* I stepped forward slightly from my position amongst my pack, from my safety and security. Wyatt appeared at my side, simply in shorts, obviously he had just shifted after running here. I offered him a small smile, I knew he wouldn't have slept deeply, anxious for any call through the pack link. He gave me a small nod back, providing me with support. "Hello, my name is Calypso Ellwood, daughter of the f-former Alpha Colton of the Silverwood pack."  I stuttered over 'former'. It was new, unfamiliar and unpleasant. Yet it was the truth, and the reason why they were here today.  "I would like to thank you for coming so quickly, and if you could please follow me to the pack house your men can rest there while we begin our discussions on where to go from here." I smiled and after a nod from the two alphas I turned on my heal and begun the journey back to our pack house. As we arrived all the mothers and children, the elderly and even the wounded were out front. They were silent but bowed their heads in respect, slightly angling their necks to the alphas, the ultimate sign of submission.  I turned my sight towards the alphas as they turned towards their respective packs. Words were spoken and their people dispersed into the pack house, my pack quickly ushering them towards the kitchen and dining hall, towards bedrooms and bathrooms, while a few remained and circled the perimeter, joining our few guards.  "If you would please follow me I will take you to the office where we can talk privately." I spoke up as the alphas gaze once again shifted to me. "Lead the way." one of them spoke as the other nodded his head. Wyatt and I walked side by side, the strong aura of two alphas following behind us. I reached my father's office. As the alphas's daughter I had been in his office too many times to count, yet this was the first time since his death. I took a deep breath and pushed the heavy wooden door open. Dad had redesigned the office when he became alpha, taking over from his father. It had dark brown wooden floorboards that would have brought the whole room into darkness if not for the large windows spanning two of the walls. One of them had a large tan leather couch in front of it, and from experience, it was the perfect place to read, with the sunlight bringing to life the words on the page. In front of the couch was an imposing mahogany desk behind which sat a matching leather chair. While the couch was on one side of the desk, on the other side was a wall lined with shelves laden with books and countless drawers holding important pack work and files. The large windows behind the desk gave a beautiful view over the forest, making the onlooker feel powerful with the high perspective yet insignificant compared to the power of nature.  My footsteps slowed on the soft rug under my feet as my hand went to rest on one of the two chairs opposite Dad's desk. But Dad wasn't here anymore. I instead went around and sat in his chair, Wyatt coming to stand by my side. This was my birthright. And I didn't want it. Not if it meant my Dad was gone.
