Chapter 20: Inner Demons

Jackson stands at the front door and just watches Sapphire struggle up the stairs, he sighs deeply wondering if he should help her but he thought against it since she was already at the top of the stairs and Dominic already went after her. He really does care about her. Maybe even love her. it looks like he would do anything for her and I already know that she would do anything for him. I wonder if they know that they love each other, I wonder if they are together and they haven’t told us yet.

“Jackson?” Leo waves his hand in front of his face. Jackson took a step back staring at him angrily. He really didn’t recognise him right now, how he could just attack her like that.

Jackson takes another step inside the house looking at Leo, then his eyes shift to move behind Leo to Katherine, “Hey Katherine. Any chance that you can leave us to talk alone?” Jackson questioned before shifting his gaze back to his brother, his arms fold angrily.

Katherine looked between the brothers as they just stared at each other. “Sure.” She says sadly as she didn’t feel wanted and she didn’t know what she had missed. She takes a few steps to walk out the front door, but Jackson is in the way. She cleared her throat.

Jackson takes a step out of the way without taking his gaze of Leo, when Katherine is out of the house Jackson shuts the door.

“I want to know exactly what is going through your mind right now.” Jackson says in a brotherly tone even though he is beyond pissed, if he is going to get the true answer then he is going to have to be the brother he was before he came back home.

Jackson walked towards the kitchen opened the fridge getting two bottles of beer, before closing it. He twists the lids off both bottles before handing one to Leo.

Leo takes one, he puts the bottle to his lips to take a long drink. He needed it if he was going to be honest with his brother. Jackson was just leaning against the kitchen bench looking at him waiting for him to start. Leo sighs deeply before walking towards the table pulling a chair out to sit down in. He places the bottle on the table then moves to angle the chair to face Jackson.

“Look, I am jealous alright?” Leo sighed deeply putting in his head in his hands. “Since she left us, without a note or anything making us worried sick, I was there for you. I am the one that kept you on the straight and narrow, you were drinking every single night when she left. You just abandoned hunting for like four month. I am the one that pulled you from that, I am the one that had your back on every single hunt. Then she calls and you drop everything and make us travel through the night full of exhaustion just to come and see her.”

Jackson looks at his brother in shock, he couldn’t believe that he was actually jealous of them. “Leo are you serious? You are trying to kill Sapphire because you are jealous?”

Leo thought about how he has been acting, how he has been trying to kill her just because he was and still is jealous. He used the excuse of her being supernatural to justify it. He realised why Jackson was so mad at him, he broke the rule of hunting; he was trying to kill an innocent supernatural being. A being that hasn’t hurt anyone. He seemed to let the jealousy consume him when he should have been happy that she is alive and well.

“I know, I know it is messed up I am just starting to see that now. I don’t know what is wrong with me.” Leo looks down in shame, his hands were shaking and his sight is blurred by tears. “I have never felt anything like it, I feel like she is trying to take you away. I am paranoid about it, I keep getting these urges to kill her. I don’t even want to not deep down. Then I get these images in my head where she is turning you into what she is. I know that it isn’t possible for you to become a Demire-wolf because you are not possessed by a demon but she can turn you into a vampire-wolf. I don’t even know, but I cannot control it.”

How long have you been possessed Leo? Sapphire’s voice is in not only Leo’s mind but in every mind in the house, through the mind bond they could feel some of the pain she was feeling right now but not much of it.

Leo jumps so high that he ends up falling of the chair, the chair falling onto its side. “What the hell?” He mutters breathing heavily from the shock. He pushes himself of the ground standing up, he picks the chair up.

“Sapphire when in wolf form can talk in our minds, you are possessed, how? I thought you had the same tattoo as me.” Jackson folds his arms keeping his distance.

“I do, I cannot be possessed. She must be wrong.” He pulls the neck of his shirt down to see that there is a cut through the tattoo. “Oh shit.”

Jackson tie him down, I’ll start exorcising him from in the head. Sapphire says cutting Leo out of the mind link to say that sentence then she pushes him back into the mind bond to start exorcising Leo.

Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus omnis

satanica potestas. Jackson walked to his car quickly to open the boot grabbing some rope, he walks back inside to see Leo with black eyes. “You think you can just tie me up and I will let you get rid of me?” the demon inside Leo questions.

Leo’s arm moves swiftly in the air causing Jackson to fly across the room falling into the wooden table which breaks under his weight. Jackson groans as he felt the broken pieces of wood digging into his back. This is going to be harder than I thought.

omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica. “Where the f**k is the little wolf.” The demon hisses through slight pain, turning to leave the living room to walk up the stairs.

Sapphire senses the demon moving closer she turns to look at Dominic then her leg, it still hadn’t healed which meant the piece of blade is still within her. She looks back at Dominic once more. She needed him to be safe, she would never let anything happen to him. There was no way she would let such demon anywhere near him. She closes her eyes and decided to do something very dangerous for her, something no wolf should do but she had to do it, to keep Dominic safe. Ergo draco maledicte et omnis legio diabolica adjuramus te. She chants between the link to slow Leo and the demon down before forcing the change to human. As soon as she is in human form she pushes Dominic into her secret room runs to the code box and locks it before Dominic can even stand back up.

Dominic shouts banding against the wall that has closed behind him. “Sapphire! Open this door!” He yells at the top of his voice, he shouts over and over again but it is obvious that she isn’t going to let him out until the danger is over. Please be ok, Sapphire. I cannot lose you, we have just met, and you don’t even know how strong my feelings are for you.

On the other side of the secret door Sapphire forces change yet again just as she sees Leo at the door. “Ahh look I have found the dog of the house.” The demon taunts. Sapphire just snarls even though she knows she cannot hurt Leo she knew that she could take more pain as a wolf.

The demon laughs, “You won’t hurt my vessel he is your brother therefore you cannot touch me, only your words can hurt and when I am finished with you then you will never be able to talk or think again.”

cessa decipere humanas creaturas, eisque aeternae Perditionis venenum propinare. Sapphire just tilts her head to the side then grins as if to say bring it on. The demon groan loudly at the words, falling to Leo’s knees. His hand slams against the ground which causes the floor ripple, the floor raising as if something was forming from downstairs, then suddenly a sharp spike of stone pushes from the floor under Sapphire.

Sapphire jumps up pushes her feet again the wall her back legs leave the wall to flip over herself and land on all fours as she faces demon Leo. Leo stands up his arm moving in a swift movement which is meant to cause her to fly across the room as Jackson did but she doesn’t budge.

“So you can only be hurt physically and emotionally huh?” Leo mutters mostly to himself. He clicks his fingers and Jackson appears in the room, he looks around confused at first until he sees Sapphire and demon Leo.

“Sapphire are you-” was all he managed to get out because he was being fling against a wall, tree branches form from the walls to wrap around him tightly. They gradually get tighter and tighter around his body. Slowly crushing his bones.

Vade, Satana, inventor et magister omnis fallaciae, hostis humanae salutis. Leo falls to his knees again but the branches tighten around Jackson faster. “I would stop that chanting if you want your brother alive.”

Sapphire snarls walking towards her brother knowing that she could break through them if she tried hard enough. “No point in trying to get through them, they are impossible to get through.” She ignores the demon and walks up to the branch and carefully bites through it, tearing the branch apart making sure that she spits out each part of bark. The demon just stood staring in awe as he watches his indestructible branch being shredded by a werewolf of all species. Just as Sapphire shredded the last part of the branch to free her brother she starts to speak the final part of the excorism. Humiliare sub potenti manu dei, contremisce et effuge, invocato a nobis sancto et terribili- She is cut off as the stone ripple through the floor and straight into her, she was concentrating so much on freeing her brother that she didn’t even see it coming. The stone spike pierces straight through her body causing her to howl for help from the pack. Then her body turns limps.

The whole room goes still, Jackson falls from the wall and crawls straight to his sister. All he could see is blood in her pure white fur. Suddenly the room is filled by a voice finishing the exorcism.

“nomine, quem inferi tremunt!” Dominic’s voice echoes through the room he is hidden in through into Sapphire’s bedroom.

The demon’s eyes widen in shock. “No…no!” He shouts before being forced to leave Leo’s body.

There is a bang against the wall making the brothers turn to look at the wall, “Will someone let me out of here!” Dominic bellows with frustration.

Jackson stands up walking towards the code box opening up the door, before slowly and defeated walking back towards Sapphire’s body tears in his eyes.

As soon as the door opens Dominic looks to see who opened the door he saw it was Jackson, his heart shattered into a million pieces when he saw how defeated he looked. Why would he look like that? We won didn’t we? He should be happy. His eyes follow to where he was walking and he gasps from pain. “No.” he mutters under his breath. He runs to Sapphire’s side, skidding to his knee to be by her side. “Sapphire…Sapphire you have to wake up, you have to be alive…it isn’t as bad as it looks you will survive it. You have to…you can’t leave me Sapphire, I love you.” His voice broken and he pleas for her.

Sapphire’s eyes flicker open at the words though her body was in agony. She could barely move without pain shooting through her body. Her eyes search for the face of the voice that gave her strength, her eyes finally found Dominic’s. She just smiles weakly to him. She pushes through the pain to move her head to rest on his lap, she whimpers through the movement but she feels instantly safer and stronger when her head hits his lap. She feels a hand gently stroking her fur, she relaxes under the touch, closing her eyes.

Leo just stands there staring at his sisters body, he knew it wasn’t his fault, he wasn’t in control but it was him that done it. he was the host of the demon, he let the demon he didn’t even see that the tattoo was ruined. He should have seen it all. If he did then Sapphire would be safe not lying in a pool of her own blood. He hurt her so much since he arrived.

“I'm…I'm so sorry.” He says with a broken voice, tears streaming down his face as he turns and runs out of the house only to pump into the Alpha he met only a few hours ago.

“You! I swear if she dies and you had to anything to do this we will hunt you down.” Aaron promises before walking inside.

Aaron could feel the pain hit him as soon as he enters the house, he winces from the pain himself and he couldn’t even feel the pain. He runs upstairs with the two wolves that came with him.

One is Sapphire’s best friend Luna which coincidently is the Luna of the Newcastle pack and the other his Beta, Jeremy. The whole pack wanted to come to make sure that Sapphire was ok. Especially when they heard the howl, the call for help which had never happened before which meant that it was something serious.

Now Aaron could feel her pain, he was very worried about what he was going to see.

“Sapphire?” he calls walking up the stairs as he could smell her blood upstairs. He gulped hard before turning the corner into her room.

Jackson is already on his feet. “Who the hell are you?” he says with a broken and croaky voice.

The other brother. Luna thinks in his mind, Aaron just nods. He raises his arms in a surrender as if to say he means no harm.

“I am Aaron, Alpha of Newcastle pack, Sapphire called for aid and here we are.”

Jackson stares just a moment then falls to his knees, his head in his hands. “Well you’re too late.”

Aaron looks down to where Jackson kneels and sees Sapphire’s limp body. Let’s hope venom will work. He thinks before looking to Jackson.

“If I may try something? It is the venom in our body that heals us faster so I am hoping if I add more venom into her body then she will be able to fully recover.”

Jackson looks at Aaron with hope in his eyes, he just nods, “Yes please. I’ll try anything to get my sister back right now. she is like this because she saved me from the demons power but she was concentrating so much on me she didn’t even see the demons next move coming.”

Aaron just nods completely understanding as it sounded a lot like Sapphire to sacrifice for the people she loves.

“I will try my best to save your sister.” He says before shifting into a wolf, he walks over Sapphire’s body, he sees how her head is rested against another man’s legs. Her friend. He thinks to himself though he knows all of the pack would hear it. He looks at the wound and bites right next to it injecting as much venom as possible, he bite over and over.

He shift after biting for the sixth time, he looks at the two unknown men. All he could see in their eyes is pain mixed with hope. He could see that it would destroy the both of these men if she died.

“Now it is just time to sit and wait.”
