Nightmares again✓

A lady rode on a horse in the woods as she was chased by thousands of horsemen. They all shot arrows at her but she escaped it without even looking back. Seeing they were catching up with her, she lifted her right hand and clenched her fist. Immediately all the trees behind her fell creating a barrier between them. The horse men took another route as their path was blocked. The lady looked back and saw they were still on her tail, all pointing arrows towards her. She stood on her horse and brought out her sword cutting every arrow that came her direction. As she turned, a tree lied horizontally before her. She flipped over it and fell back to her horse. Sapphire panted, shaking her head, sweating as she held tightly to her blanket. Everything in her room flew up and suspended in the air. On a mountain, a woman wearing a black dress with her face covered with a black veil, targeted her arrow towards the lady's direction. Though she wasn't seeing her target, she released the arrow. It travelled through the woods and shot the lady right through her chest and a white flare was emitted. Sapphire gasped as she woke, sitting up. Her eyes glowed gold. Everything that had been suspended in her room, all fell back. Her lamp was about crashing, when she looked at it and it hanged on the air while she slowly dropped it. "That nightmare again." She thought as she held her head still breathing heavily. The lights switched on without her even touching the switch. Her eyes turned normal as she turned to the clock that sat on her drawer. It read 2:0clock. Tears welled her eyes. 5:00am. Sapphire sat on the dinning chair in the dark as she drank water. She could hear her mom's steps approaching, as her mom turned on the lights. "Ahhh!" Brenda screamed on seeing the figure that sat on her chair, but stopped when she noticed it was a familiar figure. "Sapphire?" She called as she walked to were Sapphire sat and squatted holding her hands. "Honey, why are you up so early, are you okay?" Immediately, she caught sight of Sapphire's swollen eyes. "Oh no." Brenda muttered. Meanwhile, Davis had been on the run for downstairs to go check out why his wife screamed. He was holding a golf stick. "Sapphire?" He called on arriving downstairs as he dropped the golf stick against the wall. Brenda raised her head up as she looked at Davis. "Nightmare." Brenda washed the dishes while Davis prepared tea for Sapphire. "What did you see this time?" Brenda asked. "The usual. The strange lady was on the run again. But this time around..." "What happened?" Davis asked as he stirred the tea looking at Sapphire. "She was shot with an arrow, through her heart." There was total silence before Davis handed the tea to Sapphire. "When did you wake up?" He asked as he handed the cup to her squatting before her chair. "2:0clock." She answered and took a sip of her tea. "Damnit." He said as he rubbed his eyebrows in frustration while Brenda dropped the plates she held back into the sink and turned. "What?" Brenda whisper screamed. "Why....how....what were you thinking? You mean you've been awake since 2:0clock and you've been alone? Why didn't you run over to our room or maybe yell, so we could come running over to yours. Thinking of how you absorbed all the fears alone, it must have been horrible." "I can take care of myself dad, I'm fine." She said and took another sip of tea trying hard to fight the tears in her eyes as she blinked severally. "No you're not." Davis said as he looked straight into her eyes. "I was scared dad." She admitted as the tears fell off her eyes. Davis shut his eyes trying to absorb the pain inside him. Seeing his daughter like this shattered him. "I wanted to scream okay! I wanted to run down to your room! I wanted someone to hug me. But how long would I keep doing that?" "As long as you should baby..." Brenda said walking to were Sapphire sat as she sat on the hand of the chair placing her hands around her shoulders. "You should stop doing this. You should stop acting like a grown up. You are still our little girl and our duty is to protect you and be there for you." "I'm sorry mom, I'm sorry dad." Davis was speechless. He opened his eyes and nodded. "Come here." He said and wrapped Sapphire in his embrace. "This should be the last time this happens. Whenever you have a nightmare, don't hesitate to come over to our room or scream out okay?" And Sapphire nodded before they eased themselves off each other's grip. Davis wiped out the tears on Sapphire's cheeks and heaved a sigh. "You know, if I see Mr nightmare now, I wouldn't just throw a punch through his face, I would kill him for messing with my daughters head." Sapphire let out a laugh. "There you go. You look extremely beautiful when you do that. I hate seeing you carry a sad face. And I'm sorry of not being able to protect you from your nightmares." "Dad, the more you act like this, the more you make me sad. Seeing you like this breaks me down. I'm fine! I mean I went through all that alone which I barely thought I could do. You are the one who tells me I'm stronger than I think, but here you are telling me I'm softer than I think, making me wonder what I should believe." "Honey this is not about how strong or fragile you are, its the fact that no one was there for you when you needed company." Brenda said "I know. And it won't repeat itself again. I promise." "That is better." Davis said and left a peg on her forehead. "Okay, you guys forget I'm here. Stop acting so sweet, otherwise I might start praying for nightmares." Brenda said. "Seriously mom, are you really seeking for attention in my moment?" "Well atleast, you're not the only Davis darling around here, I woke up so early because of you, I didn't have my complete sleep." "Mom, you always wake up every morning by five!" "Well, I know but don't raise your voice at me!" Brenda said pointing to herself. "Are you jealous mom?!" "Well, yes, seeing that I always share Davis with you. He has all been mine before you came..." "And everything changed. I know. But atleast, you should be happy I'm gladly sharing him with you. I would have been stingy enough to let him be all mine! Atleast you had him all to yourself before I came. You should have been satisfied by now and here you are seeking for attention old woman." "She called me an old woman!" "Girls, that's enough. You both should always stop fighting about this. Both of you are important to me, and I can't imagine life without the both of you. So, hug?" He said with his arms wide open and the three got locked in an embrace laughing until they eased themselves off. "Thanks Mom and dad, I know you both are doing this so I could loosen up a bit and your therapy worked. Thanks." "Don't mention. I'm just worried about what we are gonna do about your swollen eyes." Davis said. "Yeah, it looks horrible. Like you haven't caught some sleep for three years." Brenda added. "Don't worry, some tinted glasses will help." Sapphire said. "By the way, you shouldn't go to bed on empty stomach ever again. When I came to your room after calling you series of times last night, you were already deep in sleep..." "Mom, I wasn't really hungry, my sleep was more important to me at that time." Sapphire interrupted. "That is capable of causing you nightmares. Don't ever go to bed without having your dinner. Okay?" Davis said. "Okay." She answered "Well..." Sapphire said getting up. "I think I should go take my bath." "Yeah, your mom will go with you while I take care of the dishes." Davis said as he walked to the sink. "No! I can take care of myself.". She said and headed upstairs. But stopped after a few steps and turned back. Her parents both stared at her. "Or maybe I might...need company." And the three smiled to each other, while Brenda hurried to meet her as they both went upstairs. 7:00am Edville High. Sapphire waved her dad goodbye as he drove off before she walked into the school. She went straight to her locker where she saw Vanessa. Their lockers were besides each other. "Hello neighbor." "Hello..." Vanessa said as she turned. "Ah!!" She screamed. "What?!" "You look like a blind bat! What's with the tinted glasses?" she said and gasped. "Let me guess, nightmares again?" "Guessed right. Nightmares." Sapphire said opening her locker. "The usual?" "Yeah, the usual. Just that this time around, she got shot by an arrow through the heart." "Ouch! That must have been so horrible." "Yeah it was." "I'm sorry." Vanessa said as she rubbed Sapphire's hands. "Don't be so sweet..." Sapphire said as she shoved Vanessa's hand off and they smiled to themselves. "Speaking of nightmares, I've got good news." "Good news! What? Tell me." "Calm...down, I came up with an idea of making a name for yourself just in case the music competition doesn't work out. This idea came when I kept my mind busy with something else so I wouldn't think of my terrible nightmare" "What is it?" She asked with her eyes full of anxiety as she closed her locker to give Sapphire her undivided attention. "Justice Department." "Justice department?" "Yeah. I realized there was no department in school to fight for us, our rights as students. And due to this fact, many of us get bullied and we hide in our shells. "What if I say something wrong and I get bullied again, I should just shut up." And this keep happening on and on until they make themselves invisible. We need to stand up for the ones that are weak, give voice to the voiceless, make the invisible come back alive and also protect our school, our Edville. By giving Justice to who deserves it and make Edville a better school." "Whoa!!" Vanessa exclaimed with her mouth wide with bewilderment. "That was amazing! How did you come up with such an amazing idea?!" "Well all thanks to my nightmare." "Justice department, make the invisible come back alive. We are definitely doing this." "Yeah we are." "I mean right now!" Vanessa said as she pulled Sapphire's hands. "Right now?! We can't just do that on our own accord..." Sapphire said bringing Vanessa to a halt. "We need to get the department approved by Edville's board!" "That's right. Mr Matthew. He is part of the board, we should go ask him about his ideas." Vanessa said and pulled Sapphire without even waiting for her response. Mr Matthews office. "Please sir, don't reject my gift. I put a lot of effort to get this." Matthew sat back to his chair as he rubbed his eyebrows. "I don't wanna reject your gift Annie, it's just that. Someone need to make you stop spending your money on petty things like this. You should stop buying this gifts for me knowing fully well I will reject them." "Please Mr Matthew, this will be the last time." "The last time you came to my office Annie, you promised it was going to be the last..." "I know, but this is my last gift to you Mr Matthew. Please accept it and I won't bother you with gifts again, I promise." Matthew heaved a sigh. "Fine. Drop it on the table and leave." "Thank you." Annie smiled as she dropped it on the table and left. "Fans." Vanessa said as she and Sapphire walked in while Mr Matthew smirked. "It's good to see the both of you in my office. This is like the first time you both have stepped your feet in my office. I'm glad." He said and sat up. "And please do well to take care of this as you always do." He said and pushed the gift to them while Vanessa took it. "So what bring my outstanding, lovely students to my office." "Well..." Vanessa spoke smiling to herself as she was pleased with the compliments. "We both came here to ask you about your thoughts on this idea we came up with." "What idea?" He asked and sat up. "I'm all ears." "Well, we want to have this department called the Justice department. And in this department, we will fight for the weak." Sapphire said. "Give voice to the voiceless." "Make the invisible become visible, bring them out of their shells." "Break the bridge between students, teachers and management, create a connection so everyone wouldn't see school as hell." "Or a death sentence." "But will come to school to learn, make friends and have no fear for bullies or other external fears." "The school were every one is equal. Whether millionaires or billionaires." "Whether princesses or queens." Vanessa said and looked at Sapphire. "As we bring Justice to Edville to set everything right." "That...was...great! How did you both pull that idea together?" "It was all Sapphire's idea." "It was all Vanessa's idea." They both said at the same time. "Here you go again giving me all the credit." They said simultaneously. "We are both saying the same thing." They said again. "Okay girls, I think you should both calm down. It's like that between friends to give each other credit for whatever good that happens to them. So I understand. What you should be talking about is how to bring this Justice department to life." "Yes Mr Matthew, what do you think." Vanessa asked. "Today is the second day of school and we will be having all members of the board coming in today, which means today will be perfect to put the board on the know and find out what they think about it, if it could be approved." "You are right. we need to prepare a speech!" "Pile up some documents!" "We are definitely not prepared for this." "Speech, documents are important. But what is important is making people feel what or how you feel inside. You speak to them with words of your heart. You didn't get to prepare a speech for me to get convinced, but here I am praising the girls before me for being so brave to come out with such an idea and also wish to accomplish it. That is what you need to show the board members. Your speech and documents, will be additional." "Thanks Mr Matthew." Sapphire said "You're welcome..." He said as he stood up from his chair. "So you have until 10o'clock to put yourself together. I'll call the attention of the board members that some students would love to share something with them." He said as he picked his books from the table. Till then, good luck." He said and left. "10o'clock!!" They both yelled as they stared at themselves before running of the office. "Sapphire, check out this speech?" And Sapphire read through it. "Bad." She said and folded the paper throwing it away while Vanessa heaved a sigh in frustration. The floor was already covered with folded papers. 9:00am...... 10:00am. Sapphire and Vanessa stood before the door to the board room. They could see the board members seated through the glass. They both swallowed hard. "We have to do this." Sapphire said as she held tightly to the file on her chest. "We do it for the Justice department." Vanessa said as she she turned to Sapphire. "For the Justice department." They both chorused. * * *
