Vanessa danced to the concluding beat of the song.

I made the water form a ball above her head, as soon as the beats ended, Vanessa opened her arms. I lifted my head up and my eyes glowed brighter. The water burst and fell like rain, but each droplet was shining. I made fireworks from the sides of the stage, and then she took a bow. My eyes turned normal. She bowed countless times before she began leaving the stage with everyone still on their feet, clapping and cheering. The female judges threw kisses to her as she left.

I heaved a sigh holding my head. When I remembered that Vanessa was wet and was now walking out of the warm stage, she could catch a cold. I ran out of the hall to the backstage.

I fetched a blanket and put it around Vanessa who was grinning so happily. Her mom and Kyle walked to us with so much security. My parents came to meet us too.

"I'm very fine mom, I mean the stage was so warm, I didn't feel cold a bit...." She sneezed.

"Except now maybe." She added.

Kyle embraced his sister.

"My little sister is a rockstar!" He said and released her from his embrace.

"Yeah!... but you might want to help Mrs Scott and that her worrisome face."

"Hey! Hey! I'm just trying to liven the atmosphere, that doesn't mean I'm not worried." Kyle said.

"I need to see the stage engineer." He said to a worker. He was a member of the host team.

"Kyle!" Vanessa called, she knew he was up to something and it wasn't good.

"Shhhh... Someone has to explain what happened on the stage."

"Your brother is right, now instead of you staying here getting cold, let me go get you changed." I said and put my hands around Vanessa's shoulders.

Kyle nodded and gave me a wink, I smiled and gave him a thumbs up. I knew he was up to something mischievous, I took Vanessa out so she wouldn't watch.

The worker returned with the team of engineers.

"What happened on the stage?" Kyle asked.

"We are getting to the bottom of it sir." The leader of the team spoke.

"You better, and I give you fifteen minutes to do so, otherwise this will be the last event of your career."

They all nodded and dispersed immediately.

Kyle turned to his mom to see tension all over her.

"Hey mom take it easy." He said and placed his hands on his mother's shoulders and gestured a security to get him a chair. He pushed his mom gently to the seat.

"We need to take Vanessa to the hospital."

"Mom, Vanessa is fine, all she needs to do is get changed. We'll visit the hospital after I find out who did that to her. And by the way, I'm also curious to know my sister's results in the competition, aren't you eager to know?"

"Well... maybe I am." Myla answered.

"Good..." Kyle stood up.

Brenda and Davis just stood watching.

"Get me a bottle of water." Brenda requested from a worker and he gave her a bottle of water.

She walked to Myla and handed it to her.

"Here, it will help you ease off."

Myla stared at the bottle and back at her

"Thanks." She said and handed the bottle to her security. He turned the bottle content into a cup and handed it to Myla while she took a sip.

"Vanessa is a strong girl, we should also be strong for her." Brenda said while Myla nodded.

"I'll take my leave now." She added about to leave.

"You know too? About her health?" Myla asked her almost in a whisper.

Brenda turned.

"Hmm... Vanessa is like a daughter to me Mrs Scott."

"Myla. Call me Myla." Myla corrected.

"You don't need to be scared, your secret is sa..."

"I know ." Myla interrupted

Brenda nodded, she felt a rush of happiness that Myla believed in her. She turned, taking her leave.

"Come on, let's go." Brenda said on getting to where Davis stood and they both walked out.

Myla realized that Vanessa was surrounded by people who loved her more than anything. And here they were telling Vanessa to stay away from them. Now she understood why the decision was so hard for Vanessa to accept.

"Did you see how everyone was crazy about me! I mean I blew their minds." Vanessa said as she got changed while I stood by the door.

I smiled to myself. Look at how she was praising herself at how amazing she was, totally forgetting that she wanted to leave that stage at a point in time.

"Whoever orchestrated the water that poured on me, sure did me good. I mean didn't you see that stage trick?! The water surrounded me like I had some magical power that controlled water!" She said coming out of the changing room.

I took Vanessa and sat her on a chair.

"Stay here."

"Why? Where are you going?"

"I need to settle some scores with the one that did this to you."

"But I thought my brother was taking care of that already!"

"I know! But still no one messes with my friend and walks away with it. Security!!"

I called the security that had been standing outside and they all walked in.

"Keep Vanessa company. I'll be back." I said and left before Vanessa could utter another word.

I bumped into the room where The Rocking Waves waited and i shut the door behind me. They were all standing.

"Why the hell did you bump into our.. "

I threw Stacy a slap cutting her speech.

"That was for me..." I threw her another slap at the other side of her cheek.

"And that.. is for Vanessa!"

"Sapphire!!" Jeffrey shouted and pulled me away raising his hand to slap me

"Jeffrey!" Evan yelled and Jeffrey's hand remained on the air

"Don't be a coward."Evan added.

I released myself from Jeffrey's grip and Zoey and Tatiana tried to attack me.

"How dare you?!" Zoey yelled.

I took a few steps back and kicked a bottle to Zoey. While I picked a bottle, opened It and poured it's content on Tatiana's path. Zoey stepped on the bottle and tripped while Tatiana slipped. Before the both of them could fall I pushed chairs underneath them and they fell on it. Everywhere was silent now, they were all shocked at how fast I was. Now they realized I wasn't here to joke. I walked to Stacy and removed her hand that has been on her cheek.

"You made that water pour on Vanessa didn't you!" I yelled. I didn't realize how angry I was. I let go of Stacy's hand, it was disgusting to hold.

"What are you talking about? I didn't do anything."

"If you say one more lie I'll slit your throat and feed you with it."

"Whoa... that was harsh, but cool." Aiden muttered to himself

Stacy was silent.

"Why did you do it! Don't you know that Vanessa is!..." I held myself not to say the word

"Is what?" Evan asked

"Prone... to.. cold" I answered. That was the closest truth I could find.

"Look over there." I said and pointed to the window and they all turned to look.

Kyle was scattering everywhere in anger, shouting at the team. While some of them were on punishment, kneeling.

"That's Vanessa's elder brother. And he is mad right now because he is looking for who did that to his sister. Imagine if I told him, not only you will be kicked out of the competition, you'll be up to war against the Queen of England because you hurt her crowned princess. Even if you possess the power and wealth, that's not a war you'd like to venture into. Would you?" I asked lowering my voice.

"Now I've seen how you've managed to win this past few years, you cheated. Please, I want you to give me a reason why I shouldn't tell Vanessa's brother about this?" I asked and took a few steps towards Stacy to hear an answer, but she was quiet.

"None. I should take my leave then." I said taking my leave when Evan's voice brought me to a halt.

"How is Vanessa doing?" He asked.

"She'll be fine."

"Where is she? Let me see how she's doing."

"Thanks for your concern, but you'll be called up soon, don't bother." I said and left.

"Why didn't you tell her not to tell on us? I thought she's your friend?" Aiden asked

"I'm not selfish. Whatever she does, I won't judge." Evan answered.

"And speaking of being selfish, why did you do that to Vanessa? Making it feel as though we always cheat!" Jeffrey yelled and tears filled Stacy's eyes.

They all looked out of the window to see Kyle was still scattering everywhere. Sapphire wasn't there.

"She didn't tell on us?" Tatiana asked a rheotorical question. Evan smiled to himself, he knew she didn't tell on them because of him. He smiled knowing that he was important to her.

I walked into Vanessa's room to see her mom with her, I took a seat and we all watched Twilight tunes present.

After the presentation, all the contestant were called up to the stage. Four people were meant to be disqualified according to their points.

All the points appeared on the screen.

Oceans had 10 points.

Diamond Sparkles had 16 points.

Blissful had 10 points.

Splendor had 7 points.

Starlight had 12 points.

D' Tunex had 13 points.

Ancient Tunez had 6 points.

Nitingales had 12.5 points.

The dragons had 5 points.

V.S Galaxy had 19 points.

Twilight Tunes had 17 points.

The Rocking Wave had 18 points.

V.S Galaxy had 19 points! We had the highest points. I and Vanessa screamed with joy. Ancient Tunez, the dragons and splendor where disqualified. Oceans and blissful were to compete because they had equal points. Whoever lost would be disqualified. The other contestants left the stage.

"Mom we had the highest points." Vanessa yelled.

"Yeah I know darling, you are amazing. But what you need to do now is go to the hospital." Myla said.

"Mom, you worry too much." Vanessa said and sneezed severally.

"Okay, now I think I need to go to the hospital." She said. Her brother put his suit around her.

"Come on." He said and they began leaving. I followed them out, but didn't walk them to the car, there were many reporters, they shouldn't take pictures of me and Vaness together. I stayed till the end of the competition just in case V.S Galaxy was needed for anything. After the competition, we went home.

We were all over the news. I'm sure Vanessa would be happy and heal faster. She was now famous as she always dreamed. I prayed she'd heal faster, our semi finals was in two days. I felt drowsy and yawned. Soon, I shut my eyes and slept off.

Edville High

The students broke into groups of fans. Today, there were no classes so the competitors could have time to rehearse. I made a video call to Vanessa to realize she was still very down, but she assured me that she was gonna get better before tomorrow. I told her the song and the concept of how she should sing it and sang for her a run down example. We were to have our next rehearsals over the phone in the next two hours. I sat on a bench on the school's terrace, when i saw some students holding banners and write ups with the name V.S Galaxy on them. I could see Karen and Kathleen, they were obviously the leaders of this club. I leaned down when i noticed a movement on the floor besides me, I turned around to see it was Evan.

"Hey!" I said grinning widely. He smiled and leaned up.

"Hey miss 19points." He said and I grinned widely

"I think that line should be for Vanessa.

"Yeah maybe, but you both worked together."

"Yeah."

"I'm sorry about Vanessa."

"It's okay."

"How is she doing?"

"I don't know, I just hope that she gets better before tomorrow. By the ways, aren't you supposed to be rehearsing with your team or something?"

"Yeah, but we had a fight from yesterday. Especially after the results were called. Stacy kept on blabbing that the results were fake. Jeffrey got more angry because she was so noisy, so we all had a quarrel. We all went home differently."

"How will you guys present tomorrow if you stay quarrelling?"

"Don't worry about us, we are already acquainted with our next song, all that is needed is just a little touch, if we wish. We can still present even when we are in a feud. It happens like that sometimes. Our misunderstandings shouldn't come between our presentation, that's our rule."

"Hmmph.. that rule is one of a kind."

"I wanted to ask, why didn't you tell on us yesterday?'

"If i had, you would have been kicked out of the competition. Stacy may not have a heart, but I do have one."

"Thanks friend."

"Friend? That really sounds awkward especially when it comes from you." I said and he burst into laughter.

"I'm not joking." I said laughing. "And besides, aren't we supposed to be enemies, I mean we are in a competition."

"Yeah we are, but only on stage."

"Well, that makes sense."

"Yeah.. and by the way, you have a new fan."

"New fan? Who."

"Aiden. He kept on talking about you especially the skills you displayed in our waiting room when Zoey and Tatiana almost attacked you."

"Oh really!"

Aiden was a thug, he always loved fighting. He was so rough and that reflected on everything he did. If he said he was my fan, it meant that i displayed good skills yesterday.

"Yeah, he's been calling you Jackie Chan's daughter."

I guffawed at what he called me. If i was Jackie Chan's daughter, they wouldn't have been able to ever bully me.

Suddenly someone ran In and sat on the floor with Evan. It was Aiden. I began to wonder if rich people loved sitting on the floor.

"Dude, I've been looking for you, when I remembered you have a dwelling place."

"Now you've found me, what?"

"Well, I.. " He said and noticed Sapphire

"Jackie Chan's daughter?" He exclaimed and ran to were she sat.

"Please bless me Master." He begged with his hands together.

"Bl.. bl.. bless you? Why?"

"Because you were amazing at our waiting room yesterday."

"Thanks." I wondered why he was so happy despite the fact I tortured his girlfriend. Making me wonder if the three demoms loved their girlfriends or, where just dating for benefits.

"Please, give me your autograph teacher." He said and took off his jacket gesturing me to sign on his shirt. I took my pen and signed.

"Good." He said and ran off.

We both smiled as we watched him run like a kid. A message came into Evans phone. He went through it.

"Um.. Sapphire, I think Jeffrey wants to see you."

"Me?! Why?!"

"Come on." He stood up and took Sapphire's hand. "Follow me." He said and pulled Sapphire along. Everyone watched with surprise as he pulled her. On getting to the door, he stopped.

"You don't have to be scared, I'm here with you, l wouldn't let him hurt you." He said and opened the door. Jeffrey and the rest of the band sat on the speaker. Aiden gave me a thumbs up while Evan shut the door behind him and walked to join the other members of Rocking Wave.

"I would go stragght to the point, We want the V.S Galaxy to join the RockingWave." Jeffrey spoke.

"What? Jeff? What do you mean?" Stacy asked annoyed. Jeffrey raised his hand, gesturing Stacy to be quiet.

"I don't think that's possible." I answered.

"Why?" He asked.

Did he just ask me why? When did something about me become so important to him.

"Well, I can't make that decision alone, Vanessa must be part of it. And by the way, we've not been given the freedom of formation yet."

The freedom of formation was given to the competitors by the judges. Were more people can join a team if they wish.

"When we will be given the freedom of formation, would you join our team?"

Never, I can't be in a team with the devil!

"That's also not what I can decide alone."

"I can talk to Vanessa." Evan said.

"Don't worry Evan, I can talk to her myself. I.. I.. I'll just take my leave now." I said and took few steps backwards before I turned to get the door.

I took a deep breath and wondered what Jeffrey took me for, now we had fame, he wanted to use us for fame to boost their name. He was the only selfish one amongst them, Evan just wanted his friend to be part of his team.

I called Vanessa after an hour but she didn't pick up, I got worried.

I got home after school, I was worried Vanessa wasn't picking up. I just lay on my bed and shut my eyes. A vision flashed, of how a young lady on a white apparel, stabbed a man. I opened my eyes. Who was that woman? And that young man? I stood up and sat by the window. I couldn't sleep. I just had a vision of some woman I don't know, killing a young man. I wouldn't know what I would dream about, it could be worst if I slept. So I sat there watching the stars all night.

The competition was to be held at night in a club. It was a top club. Vanessa assured me that she was going to make it. I waited for her outside, but I didn't see a sign of her. I called, but she didn't pick up. We were to present in thirty minutes.

"No information?" Brenda asked as she and Davis walked to Sapphire.

"Nothing."

"This is not good, she is meant to present soon." Davis added.

"You know what mom, I'm gonna go to her hospital to go find out if everything is okay."

"I'll drive you there." Davis said bringing out his keys.

"Don't worry dad, I'll take the bus."

"Let me drive you Sapphire! What's wrong with you?!" He said and put his hand on her back to move her to the car.

"Dad, don't worry." I said and ran away knowing well that he wouldn't budge. I needed to go alone since i was going to use my superspeed.

I got to the hospital and walked into Vanessa's room using her scent.

"Sapphire!!" Vanessa called on seeing Sapphire.

I looked around just to confirm if her dad was there, but he wasn't. Just her mom and Kyle.

"Vanessa, what's happening?" I asked and ran to her.

"I'm sorry, I can't make it Sapphire."

I observed her, she wasn't in good in good condition. She had difficulty in breathing and was red on the face. I was short of words, I didn't know if I was to scold her for not telling me earlier, or if i was to pity her. I just stood not knowing what to do. We were to present in twenty minutes.

"You are the only one who can safe us Sapphire, please save V.S Galaxy."

"What? Vanessa, I can't."

"Why Sapphire, why??"

"I'm sorry." I said and took few steps backwards before running out of the room.

"Sapphire wait!" Vanessa yelled but Sapphire already left the room.

Sapphire kept running, but she ran normally. She wanted to torture her body to relieve her mind. Running from the hospital to the club was more than enough to torture her.

How could Vanessa ask her to sing?

Sapphire gave up singing when her uncle JoJo died. Although he made her promise him that she would never stop singing, she couldn't keep her promise. Singing in a world without her uncle in it, wasn't singing, it was punishment. Because, each time she did, she'll always remember her uncle and she never wanted to ever remember that. About how he died, the pain he went through, it was a terrible memory. That was the main reason she stopped attending the music class. it wasn't because of the three demons as she always claimed, though they were also one of the reasons, the main reason was because she didn't want anything to do with music. Her uncle died together with it for her. Sapphire got to the club panting, she leaned against the wall and tried to catch her breath. Vanessa knew the main reason i stopped singing, so why should she ask her to sing?!

"In the next 60seconds, if the V.S Galaxy do not come up to stage, they will be disqualified." The master of the ceremony said.

"Sapphire, Vanessa, where are you?" Brenda asked worried while Davis searched with his eyes.

"Where could teacher be?" Aiden asked Evan and rest his hand on his shoulders.

"I don't know. Sapphire where in the world are you?" Evan soliloquized.

"Do you have any idea where Sapphire and Vanessa are?" Mrs Walter asked Kathleen and Karen and they shook their heads.

"Sapphire come on, you can do this, please, come on." Vanessa said as she watched the show on her bed.

"5..." The crowd chorused in unison.

"4.. 3.. 2..1" At the mention of 1, the stage lights turned off.

"Who turned that off?" The stage manager asked.

"No one sir, the stage lights controls are still on."

"So how come the stage lights are off?" He asked but his subordinates were silent at him.

A dimlight appeared on the stage and everywhere fell silent as their attention were diverted to the stage. Mumbles and murmurs rose in the hall as they all wondered who stood on the stage, it was so dark.

She sang slowly but steadily without any beat. Everywhere was so silent that her voice echoed in the hall. It was like the voice of an angel singing. Everyone wondered who was singing as they could only see the the body of the person but the face wasn't clear.

"That sounds like.. that sounds like.."

"Sapphire." Brenda Interrupted Davis as tears dropped from her eyes.

"Her voice has grown so angelic.. so beautiful." She added.

Immediately the limelight shone on Sapphire and the other stage lights followed together with the beat of her song. Everyone's mouth fell agape in shock at who it was.

"Sapphire?"

"No way!'

"I thought it was an angel!"

"A goddess or some magical being."

"How come she never sings despite the fact she has such melodious voice." The students whispered to themselves.

"Is that Sapphire?" Jeffrey asked.

"I'm still trying to confirm, it could be her replica." Evan answered in shock of what he was seeing.

"Such.. a voice." Aiden added.

Stacy and her friends stood dumfounded. For the first time in their lives, they felt they couldn't sing. Because if they were placed together with Sapphire, their voices will sound like the bleat of a goat.

"That's my best music student. Welcome back to the family Sapphire." Mrs Walter soliloquized.

Tears rolled down Vanessa's eyes as she watched her friend on TV.

"I missed this Sapphire, welcome back Sapphire. Uncle JoJo will sure smile from heaven." She said sniffing, while her mother and Kyle stared at her wondering who uncle JoJo was.

As Sapphire sang, memories of her when she was little and uncle JoJo came rushing.

When her uncle lifted her into the air when she came first on a race when she was 4.

When she laughed as she looked up to her uncle and her parents who were In fear after she fell from the 14th floor of a skyscraper.

When she sat on her uncles thigh as he taught her how to play the guitar.

When he embraced her tightly when the divers recovered her from the river while she smiled to her parents.

When he taught her and Vanessa how to ride a bike when they were 5.

When her uncle cuddled her when she had a nightmare.

How he always stayed by her side whenever she slept.

How she put on her uncle's coat and came out to show him and her parents, and they all gufawed while she grinned widely.

How she jumped into his footprints while he walked and will smile to him each time he turned around.

Tears rolled down Sapphire's cheeks as she sang.

How she sat by him and kissed his hand in the ambulance as they journeyed to the hospital.

How she fainted into her parents arms when she heard her uncle had cancer.

How she slept by his side all the days in the hospital.

The stage lights increased as she modulated.

She remembered how she walked into the room to see uncle being covered with a white cloth and how her dad held her from running to him despite her cries and struggles

She finished singing and just stood there sniffing as she looked at the crowd. They were all silent, the hall was so quiet. Everyone in the hall, including the judges were in tears, Sapphire wondered why. She started blaming herself for singing. Why did I sing? I knew this wasn't a good idea.

She took few steps backwards and slowly let go of her microphone. It gave a shrieking sound as it hit the ground, making everyone cover their ears while she ran out of the stage.

"Sapphire no!" Brenda said and ran out of the crowd to the backstage.

"s**t!" Davis exclaimed following Brenda.

Sapphire didn't know where she was running to, or why she was running, but she just wanted to get out of there. She ran into someone's grip.
