Steps Towards First

I started to question myself why did Dad want me to have a second chance. Maybe he wanted to see me with him there or maybe he just wanted me to realize those things that I have been doing toward the others and to myself. Maybe he just wanted me to learn from this. I taunted at that topic. I should never doubt his reasons for asking for a chance for me from that man. It may have been a hard time to understand it fully, but I’m quite sure that I would appreciate it somehow. The time had been bugging me since the day I started this task. It was almost like running like a flash. Galvin had advanced to his room to do his homework. He had asked me to tutor him but I insisted and told Mom to get him a personal tutor instead. The boy was a slightly unhappy with my reaction, but I encouraged him that I’ll help next time. He sure can be irritating and bold, but I have to attempt to blend with his manners and someway build a fine relationship with him. The clouds have turned into murky ones and later at night, I’m quite sure that it will shower. Mom used to make soup back then, whenever the weather is like this. It’s five at the moment and Mom is currently in her space. She’s probably sleeping or doing her work still. I was currently on the couch, eating some of the biscuits and hazelnut cookies. The radio was being played over the right corner. I was holding on to the music. There was nothing much to do, so I was just hanging with myself right now, not until I heard a whisper inside me. Deep inside through my soul. I heard him saying something. I slowly closed my eyes and let him be heard. It was Trenton. He’s somehow aware inside me, but doesn’t have the full potential to control my body. “Are you doing well there?” He asked, his voice was a bit shacky. I smiled silently and replied to him, “Yes. I won’t let this day depart without letting me talk to her. I need to settle down things with my Mom.” “That’s good. But, please…don’t make it too long. I feel like suffocating here.” He pleaded. I nodded and it was then he cut the link between us. I slowly cleared my stare. I just finished my treats.I stood and went to wash the dish. As I cleaned the kitchen sink, I noticed that one of the doors had opened, leaving a squeaking sound, then it closed instantly. Steps were heard, making down here. Then I heeded his voice. He walked beside and scrutinized on how I dried the plates. “Have you seen Mom, big sis?” He implored. I didn’t turn and maintained myself still. I was keeping my sight on the plates and glasses. “She’s in her room currently. Do you need something from her?” I saw him dwell. “The teacher had called me a while ago and she said that there will be a conference with the parents. I think it will be about the coming family day in the school.” He replied, wiggling his fingers. I passed by him and placed the last plate inside the drawer. I dried my hands and strutted beside Galvin. “Okay. You can go and talk to her in her room.” Galvin offered his glow and directly went upstairs. I didn't mind Galvin as we moved up until Mom let him get inside her room. When I couldn’t longer see him, I immediately paced to my own compartment and locked it promptly. I scanned for it under my sheets and pillows, but it wasn’t there. I reverted to my table and there I was able to snatch it just beside my piled books that Dad gave me and still didn’t finish reading them all. I directly took a blow and whistled it. I waited for seconds then sparkling dust filled the space and Ms. Everly appeared in front of me. Her eyes were covered with cucumber and tomatoes, as she wore her white evening gown. She was still even holding her glass filled with mango shake and the straw. She glanced over the room even though she couldn’t see at all. She gradually took those which were covering her eyes. She blinked twice and swayed her hair. When I caught her meter, she smiled at me as her eyes gleamed. She walked and stopped just a few inches from me. Her hand touched my face and gently pressed it, then, her lips curved more. “So…it did work.” She simply said. I concured and flashed. “Yes. Unfortunately, Trenton is somehow conscious in the dark hole and he can also call me even though I’m the one controlling this body.” She rubbed her temple and sat on the stool. Slowly, she ate the cucumber in her hand. I made a bizarre expression as I bear with her. I gulped as soon as she finished it. It’s just not my type to do such a thing. Ms. Everly cleared her mouth and enunciated, “Well, maybe it’s because your bond is somehow uncanny and I think it will be a great advantage for him to be able to listen to you and what’s happening whenever you took his place.” Her expression shined. Her eyes went round in a sudden grasp when she realized a thing. “How long have you started controlling your body again?” “I think almost ten hours now.” I replied. She laughed in glee and applauded. “That’s great! It’s a big wow for me.” She tapped my back. “You should keep it up. Only a few have made it to that extent and even succeeded when we talk about the previous ones that we have handled. Currently, the longest record we have up until this moment is Rafaela Martin. She was able to keep herself inside the host for two consecutive days.” She made a complacent look. “Woah. I’ll give praise to her. Where is she right now?” She pointed above and it was clear to me that the woman was able to give justice with her life and succeeded in that place where my Dad could be possibly there too. “So…” Ms. Everly crossed her arms after she had finished her drink. “Why did you call your godmother?” “We’re running out of time here, so I decided to take a step and talk to Mom-” She cut me off and didn’t let me finish what I was saying. “Are you even ready?” Am I? Am I ready to know the truth and be hurt by it? Am I ready to take a fight with my mother and have the chance to hurt our feelings together again? And I already knew the answer to my questions. I agitated my head and looked intently at her. “No. I am not ready for the thing that could possibly hurt us both. Even so, I needed to confront and be confronted by her. There are a lot of things that needed to be settled down only by us. And as far as I see her as my Mother, then I know that she will try her best to understand me and my situation. Then, the same thing will go for her. I will do it not only for myself, but also for the boy who’s in that hole currently.” I said promptly. “If it’s your decision, then I would support you.” I took a sit on the edge, just across from her. “How will I know if this errand is efficacious?” “Your necklace will tell you so. Once it took a tear from someone and that it felt that the person had already forgiven you, then it will glow by itself. That will be the time that you can proceed to another task.” She told me so. I touched the necklace on my neck and hoped for me to do my al. I took a breath and asked her one more time. “How’s his body?” The woman turned her face into an anxious one. “Currently not in a good state. But the doctor is doing his best. Guiltz is still following his parents and also report about it to me. You don’t have to worry. We won’t let anything bad happen to his temple. I don’t want you to be distracted, so you should earn a piece of bacon for it.” “Okay. Wish me luck. I’ll call you when it’s done.” I told her. The woman smiled and rubbed my head. “Don’t be hard on yourself, Amber.” Then she disappeared all of a sudden. I found myself staring and when it finally came to my senses that she was gone, I looked at the picture frame that was on the wall. It was a family picture. Trenton had put it there last week, maybe for me to reminisce those memories. So, I guessed this is it. ___ Dinner had been served well and now Galvin and I are currently in the garage playing with Toby. Mom had finished washing the plates and moved directly to her room and continued her work. The moon was shining bright together with iridescent stars. It was stunning. Toby poked his nose suddenly on my arm and barked. I looked at him and scratched the side of his ears. “How have you been, Tob?” The dog just stared at me as his tongue salivated. He raised his paw and laid it on my thigh. I smiled. Galvin was playing with his truck on the green grass. He was making those sounds again like the alarms of those automobiles and the pacing of those reels. I saw something move behind those potted plants. And just what I expected, I thought it was a snake, but it turned out to be a small white mouse. He recognized me and quivered those tiny hands of his. His body was a bit covered with mud but he seemed not warry about it. I shined a bit at him without letting Galvin notice it. Guiltz continued to wander around, not until he moved inside the house and possibly went directly to my room and to his hole. The tiny creature was hectic this day, the same as usual as before. I wondered what will he share later on with me. I glanced at my watch and comprehended that it was already seven in the night. Guessed I need to start it now. With a deep puff, I called Galvin. The wind had also become strong. “Pick your toys now, Galvin. We’re going inside.“ I said. The child nodded and immediately took his took his toys with him. We moved inside and locked the door. He stared at me and asked. “Am I going to bed now?” I patted his head. “Yes. You’re going to take some rest now. I’ll talk with Mom…regarding the conference okay?” “Okay.” He gave me a kiss on the cheek and giggled. “Goodnight, big sis.” “Goodnight, Galvin.” The boy ran to his room and secured it. When I can’t see him, I wiped off my cheek and shrugged. I walked upstairs and went to his door and made sure that it was shut. When I was convinced, I knocked on Mom’s and waited for her to open. After seconds, I heard the twitch and saw her as she opened it. She was wearing her glasses as her hair was scruffy. “Oh. Is there something that you needed?” She asked. I nodded and took a step near to her, clasping both of my hands as I felt my heart pounding so hard. “Y-Yes…” I stuttered. She stared at me for a bit and opened her room bigger and it was then I stirred myself inside. I heard the door snap closed and Mom moved to my side, placing her hand on my shoulder to rest. She was a bit troubled and deliberating. I held a gulp and gently rubbed my chest to calm my soul. Somehow, I knew that Trenton is also feeling it. This is it, Amber.
