The day of the dual arrived and the entire pack was above with activity, everyone was holding muffled conversations about it and their own corner. The silent unanimous opinions of the wolves of Twilight prowlers pack was that the current Alpha should fall to his son.
He had already ruled for a very long time and it was such a horrible time for the pack members, he took their sons and turned them into war loving monsters who drunk violence and aggression, itching for it in their daily lives, he took any she-wolf disregarding if she was mated or not, gosh he didn't even care if she was old enough! In fact he seemed to seek out younger and younger girls; his oldest 'chosen' mate was sixteen when he forced himself on her.
They wanted him gone believing that even though Damian had his rough edges he was still going to be a million times better than his father or at least not as bad.
.
Seraphina was one of the maids preparing the alpha for his duel, she tried to look for any signs of the poison creeping in on him but there was nothing, he looked just as vile as ever even openly groping one of her fellow maids with a self satisfied grin.
Every moment that passed Seraphina's heart was throbbing faster and faster, Damien had already told her that even if she did her parts and somehow the plan didn't fall the way he wanted it to he would still expose it all and drag both of them down.
She began to question herself as she brought out the alpha's clothes from his closet, she had measured the poison exactly the way Damien told her to, he said that a little too much and the alpha would die on the spot revealing everything and yanked the cat right out of the bag but two little and all he would suffer was a small fever before immediately recovering.
Despite not seeing any changes, she kept hope in her heart and it wasn't in vein as the fight began between father and son in the training field with pack members surroiunding them she could pinpoint exactly when his footsteps began to wobble, his face would stray off course, he was even more useless when he transformed into his wolf form.
Even though most of the pack members had internal support for Damien they didn't think that realistically he would be able to beat his Battle hardened father. However when they saw the fight going his way they were forced to think otherwise.
It started quietly from voices by the way whisper but soon everybody was cheering for Damien who was really taking his time with his father, landing one punch after another blood splattered about, bones broke and in the midst of it all was Damian sucking up the attention he was getting and the joy from finally getting back at the man that had made his childhood a living nightmare.
The fight continued for about 2 hours and Seraphina had to grudgingly admit within herself that even though Alpha Drakon was a despicable bastard he was still an alpha after all at least in power and dexterity.
His right hand was completely demolished and he was moving about as if he had two left feet now, yet he refused to back down and kept throwing one punch after another.
The crazy thing was that the table was turning in his favor.
Damien who had lower stamina than his father was beginning to wane on strength, and even though they were few his father was able to steal the opportunity a couple of times and throw some damaging punches.
The crowd surrounding the Alpha and his son were becoming more and more divided, Damien could sense this too he looked at sarafina, his eyes sending a warning that he had been echoing in her years since the day he challenged his father to a duel.
With her life on the line Seraphina knew that she had to do something to give him the upper hand in this fight or else her head would go flying right after.
That is when an idea came to her mind and even though she wasn't sure if it was going to work she tried it anyways she tilted her head backwards and screamed at the top of her voice holding her stomach and complaining about a sore pain, while obviously shocked everyone the moment that they recognized that the person who was in pain was actually her the look of concern immediately died in many of their eyes and it was promptly replaced with annoyance.
It had only been for a moment but that was enough for Damian to make an attack that was right below the belt grappling his father and holding him down, there was only so much pain that someone could endure and the alpha without realizing it tapped out slamming the ground with his large palm.
He'd lost.
The Alpha had surrendered his title.
Alpha Drakon tried to go back on his actions after this but he was soon admitted to the pack hospital because of his declining health and nothing the pack doctors could do to help him, the specialized that perhaps it was t because he had pushed himself too far while fighting Damian.
Of course this was a half assed lies from doctors that have been bribed by Damian, and if alpha Drakon had spent his life making friends instead of foes someone might have cared about the landslide that his health took right after that duel, but nobody questioned it everyone was extremely accepting that his time had come and gone and now it was a New era.
"Remember your promise..." Seraphina said to Damien in bed the night before his coronation, "you said you would make me Luna,"
Damien was far too quiet before he responded; "of course why wouldn't I keep my promise?"
