“What the f**k did you just say?” I asked Quintavious in shock. Quintavious stopped talking in horror and realized what he had just said. “You were not supposed to know anything about this till you turned 18, but you’re 16, and I just ruined everything you know currently,” he said. He continued, “Carmine Diamond adopted me, Franklin, and you, when we were younger, but here is the thing: One of us is the actual heir of the Diamond Mafia… well, the heiress of the Diamond Mafia and that person is you,” I was not prepared for the truth to come out so quickly. “ What do you mean that I am the heiress of the Diamond Mafia?” I asked him.
“Mom had fallen in love with Mr. Diamond, and they had you but Franklin and I were never allowed to tell father because he would have killed you and mom.” he continued “But yes that does mean that you are the true heiress of the Diamond mafia.” while he was speaking he had untied me and I hadn’t realized it until he was done speaking. My mind was so busy reeling from all this new information that I didn’t hear him apologizing to me until he snapped me out of my head with his voice right in my ear. “Jacklyn, are you okay?” I heard him say as he gave me a hug. “Yeah, I guess I am okay.” I respond as he lets out a sigh of relief.
“Good, I was worried there for a moment. Sorry about slapping you awake earlier. You were always such a heavy sleeper and that habit is not your fault. It was dad’s. You were always scared of him so you would fall asleep in mine or Franklin's bed. But one day, dad took the abuse too far to where mom had to take you to the hospital and that hospital was your father's hospital and when you were asleep, mom contacted your father, and they staged everything just to kill my father. Well, he was hardly a father to me or Franklin or even you, Jacklyn. My father was just an egotistical piece of s**t maniac who loved beating the hell out of you and mom and the only person who could get everyone out was your father.”
That's when it hit me. My father never managed to produce a death certificate for my brothers, Quintavious and Franklin, and my mother. That's when it all clicked in my head. Like the time dad said when he thought I was asleep, “Soon we will be reunited and free to be a full family princess and no one will ever hurt you guys again." I looked at Quintavious with a confused expression. “When you say everyone, are you saying Franklin and mama are still alive, Quintavious?” I asked as a nauseating smell hit my nose, making me sick of my stomach.
