~Jessa~
I blinked rapidly, my blurry vision trying hard not to drift from the man that sat in front of me.
“Cornard Drakmor.” I repeated it again, and my mouth fell open.
I knew he was the most feared Lycan king in the whole city and even country at large.
But it didn't just end there; there was something more about him that made the name ring a bell.
I tried to think it through, but the heavy bang that I felt on my head didn't allow me to, so I gave up the thoughts.
“Tell me more. How did you become enemies with Kaelen?” I narrowed my eyes.
He didn't reply immediately but poured himself more drink.
“I will answer that when you take one more shot." He chuckled and lowered his voice.
“I love to hear you slur your words and stumble over your sentences while you stagger backwards and let those pounce.”
His gaze dropped to my chest while he sucked on his bottom lips.
I wrapped my hands around my chest.
“You said I couldn't take more shots minutes ago, over there." I pointed back at the counter.
Cornard twitched his lips in amusement, slowly sipping his drink.
“Go on, take one more shot.”
I reached for an empty glass and poured out the drink, and in a second, I gulped it down.
“Perfect. Now I will tell you, but you have to take another shot, 'cause this is a secret."
I didn't hesitate to gulp down the next shot.
I sat at the edge of my seat, patiently waiting for him to spill it.
“Jessa, you practically run Kaelen's family company, right?” He asked and I nodded.
“Your paintings and artwork, all lined up in the Coles gallery while you sit and watch them?”
His words echoed in my head, and thousands of thoughts rushed into my mind, all at once.
I frowned. My paintings, my work.
They are all in the Coles' name, all in their custody.
They own the largest art gallery in Harlem, with every single piece of art made by me.
It's been five years all together. Two long years of relationship and three years of marriage.
I have worked for them, served them and made sure the gallery was stocked with my drawings.
I sat in all day hidden in the Coles Mansions. Painting every day from the catalogue Kaelen dropped weekly.
I made sure I covered all drawings every week while Kaelen fed me the tea, stroking my knees and reassuring me he was with me no matter what.
I watched my hand grip the cup tighter and then returned to Cornard.
Why did he have to remember this for me? I didn't even think of it because it wasn't of any use.
Everything was under the Coles company name; not even the paintbrush was under my name.
So I have no reason to fight over it, 'cause I wouldn't get it, and Kaelen would go to any length to get my whole family down.
They were wolves, and we were humans.
“I watched them take it, because we were family.” My hands slipped off the glass and rested on my lap.
"They are superior and powerful; what would you have me do?" I fumbled with my dress and looked away.
Kaelen was just a monster. He used me totally these past years.
I have been so dumb; just like he said, how could I not have found out?
And now I have been stripped off of everything I have.
My work, the only one I loved and thought we were meant for.
My womb, completely destroyed, and worst still, my body.
“They stripped you of all you had."
My face snapped back to him.
He seems to know more than I thought.
Nobody knew I was behind the Coles artworks. The secret ended within the family circle.
How then did it get to Cornard Drakmor?
“How come you know all of this?"
Cornard smirked again, the way he did when he wasn't going to answer the question thrown at him.
“What exactly do you want now, Jessa?" He asked and locked his eyes with mine.
“A revenge plot?" He said, and I shook my head.
Who dared seek revenge on the Coles family? The matriarch would make sure she gets you down.
They were the ruling Alpha bloodline in Harlem, and no one dared them.
“I can help you get that." He chuckled and dipped his hands into his pocket.
He pulled an object and raised it into the air.
“You want the galleries burnt down in ashes, and he feels the pain he cost you." He lit the lighter.
A low gasp escaped my mouth.
“You want to burn down the Coles gallery?" I blinked rapidly, unsure of what I just heard.
“If you wish."
I nodded continuously.
If I were going to end up this way, Kaelen needs to go down too.
“You will get the news in five hours." He smiled and slid the lighter back into his pockets.
“The revenge comes with a price though." He paused and lowered his voice.
"Pretend to be my wife."
“What?" I echoed, as my eyes widened.
