Chapter Fifteen: I decided to surprise my parents at home. I am now currently in a cab on my way home in California. My parents were right somehow. I should have just stayed here in California and worked for my parents and in that way, there may have been a chance that I wouldn't have met Brendan. My cab was just a corner away from my family's home. My family lived in a wealthy suburb. My parents my think it's small but to me, it still feels like a mansion. We have an automatic gates and our front yard had a little water monument round about. It was huge. I opened the gate with my remote. From the rearview mirror, I could see the cab driver's mouth opened and in awe. I rolled my eyes. This is why I want something smaller and more comfortable. I got out of the car and paid the cab driver a little extra. "Keep the change," I told him. He greedily smiled and took out my luggage out of the trunk. "Thank you." And he sped off. I sighed. I had an assistant behind me and grabbed my belongings. I walked into the huge house. It was shiny everywhere. My mom is a neat freak. Everything had to be neat and tidy and up to her standards. Right now, everything seemed to blind me. It's either from the black and white polished furniture or from how my apartment was dull compared to home. I went up the wooden grand staircase and into my dad's office. I knocked and just went in. "Did I tell you to come in?" My dad asked, still looking down on his paper work. I snorted. "Please, as if I need the permission to come in here," I smiled. He quickly looked up and gasped when he saw me. "Kristine, my dear!" Dad gushed, walking up to me and giving me a huge hug. He kissed my forehead. "What brings you home?" I sighed. "Well, I had a job, lost it, had a job, and lost it again," I said sheepishly. He raised his eyebrow. "Who were you working for in the first place?" "J.M.I," I mumbled. His eyebrow is still raised. "How did you get in J.M.I?" He asked curiously. "Uncle Jon - " Wait a second. If my Uncle got me in J.M.I, shouldn't the company already know that I'm a Garcia? What is happening? "Dad, I'll be right back," I quickly said and scurried off to my parents' room. After a puffing sprint, I finally made it to my parents' room. I swiftly knocked on the door and waited for her reply. "Come in!" I walked in the room and saw her on the bed with a book in her hands. "Kristine, is that you?" Mom gasped and ran up to me, giving me a tight hug. "Why are you home so early?" She asked. I shook my head. "Why did you send me to J.M.I?" I asked her, being straight to the point. She was shocked. "Honey, why do you ask that?" She asked nervously. I will try again. "Why did you send me to J.M.I?" I tried once again. She cleared her throat. "Honey, what's wrong with that?" I yelled out a frustrated groan. "Will you stop pretending you don't know anything?" I roared. "All my life you have been lying about my real grandparents. Where are they, really? They aren't dead, are they?" I asked. Mom choked. "Tell me the truth," I said dead seriously. She stuttered. "You aren't a true Garcia." I stood frozen. I'm sorry, what did she just say to me? I narrowed my eyes and searched for the truth beneath her. It showed the truth. "I can't believe you," I croaked. "You lied to me all of these years!" She started to cry, tears fell uncontrollably from her eyes. "Ple - please l - let me ex - p - explain," She begged. I was tired of crying. I just looked t this woman in disgust. "Tell me who my real parents are," I demanded. She frowned. "I don't know." I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Please, don't leave us," She quietly begged. "How can you expect me to stay after finding out the truth about myself?" I yelled. "We were in Amsterdam for a year when your father and I found you in front of our door. It was like a miracle sent from heaven. I couldn't conceive a baby. I still can't. That's why we decided to keep you," She explained. It was kind of hard to understand but this was the best I'll get. "Jonathan decided to talk to Brendan about you being able to work for him. Since Jonathan isn't a Garcia since he is your step cousin, he's very good friends with Brendan. He's not in anyone's side. However, my intention was to bring down their company using you." She admitted, not feeling a slight embarrassment. I closed my eyes. "How dare you," Was all I said. "I never, ever want to see you again." I coldly said, storming out of her room and leaving her there on her knees, crying. I went straight to my room and locked the door behind me. All these memories in this room. Those times when my so-called parents would read my bed time stories; the times when my 'parents' would both tickle me to death; the laughter and tears we’ve shared were all nothing but a complete lie. How dare they? I grabbed another suitcase and packed everything that I thought were necessary to pack. I decided to leave behind the pieces of clothing and accessories they had bought me. I was bringing things that I bought with my own money. I don't need them in my life. I survived by myself in New York, didn't I? I mean, besides being a part of J.M.I. But besides that, I still had a bit of money put aside for my rent and whatnot. I should go back to where I belong. After an hour of constant packing, I have zipped up my bags and called a cab. Also, I called for some help to get my things down the stairs. I had 3 huge luggages and 2 small bags. I had called my 'dad's' private jet to come and pick me up and drop me off to New York. I was going to use my last minutes here in California wisely. It was really happening. I just got back from New York and now I'm on my way back to New York where I truly belong. ~ "Thank you," I gratefully said, jumping up and down in excitement. "Thank you so much!" I talked to my landlord from the apartment I was in before and luckily, he let me stay in here again! I couldn't be more than happy to be able to stay here again. After a couple of hours of unpacking, I have finally unpacked my things and put into places they should be. I was very, very, exhausted for flying out twice in the same day. Never again will I do that! I lied down on my bed and moan, feeling my tensed back relax a bit. Tomorrow is a brand new day. Tomorrow is the day where I shall tell everyone the news. ~ I woke up, feeling fresh than ever. I was going to go back to them. I was going to tell them the truth. They have to know the truth about me or else everyone will be living in a complete lie. I didn't want that to happen, for their own benefit and mine. I took a quick warm shower and wrapped a towel around me. I stared at my reflection on the mirror. My blonde hair looked darker than usual from the water. But something has changed. I have a smile plastered on my face. Since it was a chilly day today, I wore a blue sleeveless skater dress with black opaque rights underneath. I grabbed a white trench coat from my closet and placed it on my bed and also a light blue satchel that a got myself for Christmas a while back. I tied my wet hair up in a sleek ponytail and smiled. I was going to do this. This was it. I grabbed my black ballet flats, bag, and coat and made my way out into the city. Even though I was only gone for several hours, I still missed the sight of the city. It was beautiful. I strolled the cities of Manhattan until I have finally reached the building that I've wanted to see. I smiled but my stomach kept churning in nervousness. I walked in the doors and when I was just about to reach the reception, I was stopped. "Sorry, ma'am, you can't enter furthermore," A guard said. I raised my eyebrow. I was shocked. "Excuse me?" "You are not allowed to enter this building at any costs." I furrowed my eyebrows. "Who told you this?" "Mr Brendan Johnson." I fumed. I looked around and saw the elevator about to close. "I'll see my way out, thanks," I said and quickly ran towards the elevator, completely startling the guard. Thank God I'm wearing flats or else I would've fell flat on my face! I made it in the elevator without the guard at tow. I sighed. Okay, Kristine, this is it. Whether he believes me or not is none of my concern right now. I just need to tell him the truth. The door opened and I saw the guard inside his office. I gulped. I saw eyes look at me once again. If I had to make a scene, I will make a scene and I am certain he knows that. I walked to his office and I saw him look at me. I said nothing but the guard came up to me. I put a hand up to stop him. He obliged. "Leave us alone, please," Brendan muttered. The guard curtly nodded and I smirked at him. I love that feeling when you win after an argument. I mean, who doesn't? He sighed and closed the blinds. He looked at me and I shrugged, taking of my coat and placing it neatly on the chair. I could feel him looking at me. "What do you want, Garcia?" He asked. I raised my eyebrow. I was going to play with him like he played with my heart but only for a while. "Always so straight to the point," I said. "That's what I like about you," I gave him a wink. "What do you want?" He asked venomously. I shook my head and waddled my finger. "Nuh-uh, it's what you want right now, Brendan." He looked confused. "What I want is for you to hurry the f**k up and tell me what it is you came here for. And also for you to be out of my office immediately." That hurt. But I wasn't going to let my guard down just yet. "Is that so?" I took a step forward. "What if I seduced you? Would you react?" He was silent. "Why didn't you fight for me?" I asked quietly, tracing random patterns on his chest. "Why, Brendan, why?" He closed his eyes. "I was born to be enemies with a Garcia and since you're a Garcia, you are enemy." My heart tugged. I plastered a fake smiled. "Oh, really now?" His eyes shot back open. "What is it that you want?" He asked angrily. "You aren't here to play with my heart again, are you?" Don't bring your guard down. "How many times do I have to tell you that I did not know I was a Garcia?" I asked, frustration evident on my face. He smirked. He was controlling this now. I won't let that happen. "Then what brings you here? To see what we're up to in this company? To ruin this company? I'm pretty sure you don't want your old job back. or wait, to seduce me like the little slut Garcia that you are?" I slapped him across the face. I did not care if he thought I was a Garcia but how dare he call me a slut! "I came here to tell you some news but I never would have expected for you to call me a slut." He shrugged. "Every female Garcia that I have met have always wanted to seduce me. What makes you so different?" I brought my fingers to my lips and tried my best to not cry. "Because - " "Because what?" He urged. There was a knock at the door. "Sir, your meeting starts in 5 minutes." "Postpone it," He yelled. "I can't do that. The Garcia's are here." He raised his eyebrow. "Postpone it or you lose your job," He growled. I hear her scurry off. I'm guessing the old Brendan is back. "So the Garcia's are here, huh?" My eyes widen in shock. "I didn't know anything about it, I swear!" He growled. "Then why are you here?" "To tell you - to tell you that, uh," I stuttered. Why can't I tell him the truth? He huffed. "Thought so. See your way out, please." And then he left, just like that, with his MacBook Pro in his hand. I groaned. Kristine you are an i***t! It was 10 minutes past and I still haven't left the chair in Brendan's office. And then I stood up, leaving both my coat and bag in the room, and I closed the door behind me. When I shut the door behind me, everyone was looking at me. "What? Don't you all have a job? Stop looking at me whenever I enter the room!" I growled. I was getting sick of their s**t. I walked to the conference room and saw the Garcia's and Brendan there. Wendy and my foster parents were there. Great timing. I knocked on the door and Brendan's new female assistant opened the door. "How may I - " I pushed the door further open and welcomed myself in the meeting area. "Oh lookie, it's my 'family' and ex-boyfriend. So, what's happening?" I asked sarcastically. Wendy was shocked. "Where are your manners, young lady?" I shrugged. "I'm in no position to tell you," I looked at Miranda, my so-called-mom. She shifted on her seats uneasily. Wendy and George, my so called father, both raised their eyes. "And why is that?" Wendy asked. I shrugged. "As your daughter." I looked at Brendan. He was just examining me and my 'parents'. Maybe he's trying to look for resemblance? Then back to my parents. I looked at the assistant. "Can you please leave us for a while?" I asked nicely. She hesitated. "Now," I warned. Okay, so I know I've been acting like a b***h but this was the only way to get the truth out. Things have to go my way right now. It has to. She scurried off and left the conference room. I sighed. "What is happening?" Brendan asked. "Sorry I'm - " We all turned around and saw Josh standing by the door awkwardly. "- late. What is happening?" He asked, quickly sitting next to Brendan, opposite me. "I'm as confused as you are," Brendan muttered. "Should we try and lessen the confusion in this house?" I asked both Miranda and George. George looked confused. "I'm sorry but how should I know what happened?" I stood up. "You lied to me. Both of you! How dare you not telling me anything!" George was shocked. Wendy stood up. "What in the world is happening?" I smirked. "Would you like to tell them or should I tell them?" George shook his head. "How did you know?" I shrugged. "Your wife wasn't exactly," I paused, "Secretive," I winked at her. She gulped. She knew she was about to lose me forever. She knew I hated liars however she was with the liars. She is a liar. I sighed. No one was speaking. Both of the brothers were confused as hell as well as Wendy. However, the couple were worried. So I started to speak. "Well, let's just say that - " "I'm sorry, okay!" Miranda burst. I smirked. She looked at both Wendy and I, taking turns. "It wasn't my intention to hurt both of you! I just wanted to know what it feels like to take care of a little baby so I took her in!" They gasped. Miranda sobbed. "George and I were in Netherlands for a whole year. About two months before George and I were about to leave, we heard a knock on our door and when we both opened the door, no one was there. When I looked down, I saw Kristine on the floor, wrapped in a pink blanket in a wooden basket. She was like a gift sent from above since I couldn't conceive a baby. There was a letter in there. It said your birth details, as well as your real last name." I stood still. "My real last name?" I asked, shocked. She nodded. "Kristine Jansen," It was George's turn to speak. I felt tears fall from my eyes. I saw Brendan contemplating on whether to comfort me or not. I went up and sat on his lap, wrapping my arms around his neck. "Shh, it's okay. I promise you we will find them," He cooed. I sobbed. He kissed my forehead. "I'm so sorry." I nodded. "Me too." "Wait a second," Wendy asked, breaking our moment. I saw that Josh felt really awkward. I don't blame him though. I am certain that one day he will find his soul mate. "So who's the heir?" I looked at George and Miranda. "No one," Miranda croaked. "Unless Kristine will allow us to formally adopt her." I looked at Brendan whose eyes showed worry. I looked back at them and smiled. "It's a really nice offer but I would have to decline it. I really enjoyed my life with you both and thank you all so much for raising me very well. I can't thank you enough for giving me the life of a princess but I don't want to get anyone hurt. I can't thank you both enough but I think it's time for us to move on," I told them sadly. I quickly got up and hugged them both. "If you ever need anything, don't be afraid to approach us, okay?" George asked. I nodded. "Thank you, again." "You're welcome, hunny," Miranda said. "You will always be our little princess," George said. I smiled. "Thank you both so much." And then they left with years in their eyes. I looked at both of the brothers. They were both smiling. "You have no idea how grateful I am," Brendan said, coming up to me and giving me a huge hug. Josh patted my back. "Me too." I smiled gratefully at him. "Thank you. I hope you really find someone who will make you happy," I told him sincerely. He smiled. "I already have." I gasped and gave him a hug. "Oh my, who?" I gushed. He chuckled. "You may know her." I looked at him examined his eyes. An then it clicked. "No. f*****g. Way." Brendan looked at me confusedly. "Jasmine and Josh! That is so adorable! You guys are like J-J's. and then you'll name your children with the letter starting with J and - " "Whoa, calm down," Josh chuckled. "Children? Way too fast, girl." I chuckled. "Sorry, it's just all too exciting!" "It's okay." I looked at Brendan and smiled. "Alright, I'll leave you two lovebirds alone," Josh said and left the room. "Bye, Josh." "Were you serious about it?" I asked. Brendan looked confused. "About what?" "About helping me to find my real parents." He cupped my cheeks with both of his hands. "Of course. I will be with you through every step of the way." I smiled. "Thank you." He kissed my nose. "You are welcome." And the most amazing-est thing happen. His lips on mine and our lips moving in synch. Oh, the things he does to me.
