Serena’s POV My heart leapt, hoping it was Mia, back to talk, to let me hold her like when we were kids, to forgive me for being this broken shell of her sister. My fingers brushed the knob, a half-smile forming. Then I swung the door open, and my smile shattered. Victor Crane stood in the doorway, his lean frame clad in a suit too sharp for this decaying apartment. His eyes, cold and dangerous, lock into mine, freezing my blood.
