Terri Johnson was so happy for her best friend, Bess. The two had known each other since grade school, and, truth be told, Terri had always been more of a big sister than a friend. While Bess had the reputation throughout their school years as “the smartest person in the room,” she had always been a little naïve, especially when it came to the opposite s*x.
After college, the two had gone separate ways, with Terri accepting a job as an English teacher at the local high school while Bess took a position in the loan department at the city’s largest bank.
