Chapter Five
Jessica had done more than show up Saturday. She had ended up behind the table helping the kids promote their cupcakes until they were sold out. Will had enjoyed it more than he ever thought he would. Afterwards, they had gone to Jessica’s for lunch, and she taught everyone how to do a few things in the remodel.
After lunch, they all hung out and watched a movie. It was the least productive thing they could have done, yet as he sat on the sofa with his arm around Jessica, there was nowhere else he would rather be. The kids were worn out, and it was surprising they were still awake, going on late afternoon now after getting up and going all day.
“I might need to take them home soon,” he whispered in her ear, trying not to let the kids hear.
