Chapter Nine
Jessica was wrapped in a robe waiting on Will to get to the door before unlocking it. It hadn’t been distracting in the least to have the kids there with her as they had fallen asleep rather quickly and the movie hadn’t held her attention.
When Will was on the porch, she undid the locks and opened the door. “Hey.”
“Hey.” He set the bags down just inside the door and quickly closed it behind him.
“What’s going on? Alex won’t tell me anything.” She had planned to be less blunt about it, but apparently her mouth had other plans.
“Let me get this stuff out of the way and we can talk.”
“Take it to the guest room.” Grabbing some of the bags, she led the way and set them down just inside the door. “The kids fell asleep on my bed, and I left them there.”
