I took a sip from the glass of Chardonnay I had been nursing since noon, having spent the better part of my day on my laptop, surfing the Internet from my living room sofa. The knocking and banging noises in this house kept me awake all night. I got up to investigate some time around 1:00 AM, terrified that I would surprise an intruder, but there was no one here and no obvious cause for the sounds. Now I was on edge and needed some answers, as my imagination was running wild. I kept thinking about the man at the coffee shop and how he said that Monroe had “Ghosts ‘round every corner”, and though I knew this was the house that Ruth Rivers died in, I needed to find a more logical explanation for the disturbances.
