58 BLAKE JONES November 8 Oh my God, oh my God. What happened? I couldn’t breathe. It was some time after 6:30 PM when I came barreling down the street on my bike. I was pedaling like the devil was chasing me, frantically swiping my sweaty hair out of my eyes. It was dark, and though this was the neighborhood I grew up in, I felt disoriented and struggled to see where I was going. Everything looked different. Or maybe I was different. Jay and Paul - they promised me no one would get hurt. I rounded the corner, and I could see that someone had left the front lights on for me.
