“I’m sorry.” She turned and ran along the bridge toward a set of stairs. Two more guards came up as she drew near, stopping in their tracks when they saw her. Both men drew their pistols. Desa barreled toward them and leaped, freeing herself from gravity’s pull. She soared over their heads, over the stairs, out into the open. Yanking her necklace off, she flung it at the two men and triggered the Light-Sink she had created in a moment of boredom. All those long days on Zorn’s ship had been good for something.
