It didn’t take a while for the nurses to wheel me out of the emergency unit to the ultrasound room. Sammy left to buy my request while Maris left to take her things from her clinic. She promised to join me and would follow soon.
Layla and Sophie saw me, and the latter started crying. “I’m so worried about you, El…” she wept while they wheeled out my gurney.
