The following day, I woke up early to prepare for Elisha’s doctor’s appointment. I took my phone from the bedside table to check for any messages. Sam got one, but I decided to type and send El a message first.
‘Good morning, baby xx’ I sent her a still sleepy selfie of me. A few seconds later, El replied to my message.
‘G’ Morning’
‘See you soon! Sending my kisses to Stephy and Gabby! Love you guys!’
‘Okay’
I actually missed this kind of exchange of messages with El. Her answers might sometimes be short and cold, but I still appreciated them.
After calling Sam and checking on Gideon, I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. I went straight to the shower area to freshen up. It was already half past six in the morning, quite late from my usual six o'clock morning routine.
