Chapter Three

My head felt fuzzy and my body felt like it had been slammed into a wall. Repeatedly. I groaned and tried to open my eyes but the light in the room was so bright. I closed them again rubbing a hand over my forehead hoping to rub away the fuzziness I was feeling. That seemed to work so I tried to open my eyes again and when I did my brows furrowed in confusion as I stared up at the ceiling. Taking in my surroundings my confusion grew, where the hell was i? i was lying on a bed, an actual bed, and not a mat on the ground and was surrounded by four grey walls. When was the last time I had slept inside? It had been a while. I had forgotten what it felt like to sleep in a bed and for second revelled in the way my body sank into the mattress.

And then the door clicked open and I shot up reaching for the knife in my boot, only I wasn't wearing them. I quickly looked around for a weapon but the room was empty, nothing to defend my self with unless you count a pillow but I doubt a pillow fight would help. I stood watching the door, waiting to see who would walk in, hopefully someone who would explain where I was and what I was doing here, someone friendly.

The door opened slightly and in walked a man wearing a white coat. He had chocolate brown hair and dark brown eyes to match. He smiled when he saw me. " Ah im glad your awake. " He looked down at the notepad in his hand. " Where am I ?" He looked back up at me " Your safe don't worry. My nameis Doctor Adams and ive been treating you. You gave your mate quite the scare. " I stared at him in shock. A human doctor? Those still existed? Wait WHAT?! " What do you mean my mate? I don't have one" I took a step back from him. this time it was his turn to be confused. " Hmm, maybe the marking has affected your memory loss. Interesting. " he muttered to him self as he jotted down some notes.

And that's when I felt it, the throbbing in my left shoulder, slowly I pulled the white shirt I was wearing to the side and revealed a large white plaster. My mouth went dry as fear crept into my belly. " No, no, no, no " I muttered. " This cant be happening, this cant be true. " Doctor adams looked up at me with concern in his eyes. " It is true miss?" He hinted for my name and for a second I thought about giving him a fake one " Bonnie, my names Bonnie. " he smiled softly " Well Bonnie, you have been given a once in a life time chance at true love. It is an honour and privileged, one you should accept" I stared at him like he had lost him mind! An honour and a privilege?! I could practically feel my face go red from anger and was about to give this traitor a piece of my mind when he subtly moved his head from side to side like he was warning me.

My anger diminished and confusion took over once more, was he trying to help me? The doctor walked closer towards me, a smile still on his face. " Now, miss Bonnie, your mate has been very worried about you but im happy to say everythings going to be just fine. " He stood next to me and lowered the notepad he had been scribbling in earlier. Their watching. Was written on it.

" Now, do you feel well enough for company?" He asked his voice chipper. i stilled at his question, which he seemed to sense, " Don't worry, we thought that since you had a bad reaction to meeting your mate the first time that we would introduce you to one of the already mated human females in your pack. She can tell you everything you need to know and answer any questions you might have. " If I say no what would happen? Their watching me, waiting for my answer. Would they keep me locked away In this room until I comply? If I complied and acted like a meek obedient mate then I could find a way out, I could run, I could be safe.

With my mind made up I nodded which earned me a toothy smile from Doctors Adams. " That's great" he said and then walked back towards the door and knocked, second later it opened and he popped his head around the corner and then back in again. " The door stayed open and for a moment I thought about making a run for it, but I knew deep down that it wouldn't work, id get caught and then id never have my chance of escape.

I stood, waiting for this woman to come in and tell me how great it was being mated to a wolf but what I didn't expect was for that woman to be someone I never thought I would never see again. My eyes instantly teared up " Winnie " I choked out. She stared back at me with as much shock. " Bonnie" she whispered. She had changed since the last time I saw her. Her hair was short and her eyes held so much pain. She looked older but not in a good way. " The doctor looked between us. " How wonderful, I see you already know each other. " I ignored his stupid comment and ran towards the person who used to be my best friend and embraced her in a hug. She hugged me back just as tightly and we both cried in each other's arms.

" ill leave you two to catch up, ill be back in a little while " The doctor announced before leaving the room. When the door closed shut we pulled apart " What happened to you" Winnie looked at me with sadness in her eyes and fake smile on her lips. " Here lets sit on the bed and ill tell you everything. " She guided me towards the bed and we sat down.

She took in a deep breath and told me everything, that at first she hated every second she was here and even tried to run away once. She didn't tell me what happened but I could guess. And then she told me how she grew to love her mate and care for him and then her first child was born. A girl. She told me how happy she is here and how this is her home. I sat there in silence and listened to her, I could hear what she was saying but I couldn't believe it, there was something hiding behind her eyes, she wasn't happy at all. " You can be happy here too, we have a book club on Thursdays and Tuesdays and Wednesdays we are allowed to go into the neighbouring district to buy things from the markets " winnie gave her a toothy smile but I wasn't convinced. " Whos this we?" " Oh, the other human mates" she shrugged like it was no big deal. But it was. " How many are there ?" my voice tumbled slightly. winnie pondered the questions for a moment before replying " I think there are fifteen now but some are still in isolation" She leaned in close to me and whispered " Some still haven't come to terms with being mated to a wolf, one even tried to stab their mate in his sleep"

He eyes widened as if the action was unspeakable but I would do the same thing. " They didn't kill her?" Winnie pulled back, shock across her face " God no! We are very precious to them, they only get one mate in their lifetime and all they want is the same things as us, love and a family. " I couldn't help but let out a scoff. Yeah right.

Winnies eyes narrowed, " You are very lucky to be were you are now, your mate is going to love you for the rest of his life. And someday you will love him to" before I could say anything else Doctor Adams opened the door and walked back inside, the same stupid toothy smile on his face. " How is everything?" He asked winnie. She looked back at me then back at the doctor " it will take her some time to adjust but I think she will settle in eventually " " Good!" the doctor replied. " I think its time to go winnie, beta daniels is eager to see his mate again " " of course " she replied like a robot. I stared as she got up from the bed gave me a wave and walked out the door leaving me with doctor adams.

Seconds later there was a double knock on the door and in walked in my worst nightmare. Six ft tall with dark chocolate hair, piercing blue eyes and the biggest smile I had ever seen on anyone's face. I felt like I had met him somewhere before but my mind still felt fuzzy. " How is she ?" he asked the doctor acting like I wasn't in the room. " Shes doing well, there is some memory loss from the marking but it should come back in time, winnie thinks she is ready to meet the pack so I will leave that judgment up to you beta." His blue eyes turned back towards me, studying me for a moment. " You don't remember me? " he asked. I shook my head, " You seem familiar but its all fuzzy " my voice sounded timid and scared and I cursed my self for being so weak around him.

" Well then, my name is Logan and I am the packs beta, which means I am the second in command." He looked at me proudly expecting me to be proud of him too but I just stared at him with no expression, I didn't care if he was second in command or the alpha , he was still a monster. He sighed when he realised I wasn't going to scare and asked me what my name was, When I didn't respond he looked towards the doctor " Her name is bonnie " " Bonnie " he repeated. " How beautiful" " get some clothes and food ready for her, its time to meet the pack " he said and looked away from me. He said his goodbyes and walked back out the room along with the doctor, leaving me alone.
