"What's the next step to take," Janel asked the nurse in charge of her mom's case.
"I will let the bursary department know that you are about to transfer the full payment to the rightful account" Abigail the nurse replied.
"Ok pls do that fast, we are running out of time" Karen speaks.
Just then Rita opened her eyes and noticed that Janel had a company with her. The voice echoed down her memories, as it was like the music she'd been hearing for over fifteen years before her current health challenges.
"Greetings Mrs. Karen" Rita praised her while lying on the bed helplessly and without strength. She was very happy to see her former boss smiling with her. Her mind was now at rest as she trusted that her message through Janel had been anticipated.
"Greetings, Rita. Don't stress yourself trying to turn your neck. You would be fine"Karen assured.
She looked at her daughter and spoke
"This is Mrs Devale, the woman I always told you and your brother about. She is nice right"? Rita asked with a happy face.
"Yes Mom, she is" Janel responded with a half-smiling face.
Rita tried to look at her boss face to face but only saw a woman who was stirring at her pitifully.
"Thank you Mrs Karen" She thanked
"It's nothing. We are all destined to help ourselves" She responded.
"Her passionate words sent countless numbers of meaning to Janel who at this stage, has no power and will of herself. She saw deeper meanings to those words and tried to associate them with the events roaming around the world. She finally adopted Karen's last words and used them to console herself and the months she must abide by the signed agreement.
Finally, their conversations were interrupted by the presence of Doctor Golden.
"Greetings all" He respected their gathering. He was fortunately amazed by the presence of Mrs. Karen. They especially, exchanged glances and hugged themselves. They both are very famous for whatever they represent as they are outstanding celebrities in the country and throughout the entire Europe. Both Doctor Golden and Mrs Karen were encouraged and motivated by their meeting. He knew now that his patient (Rita) was staunchly connected with Karen and a successful surgery this time, would mean a lot for her medical reputation.
In fact, without beating his chest, she was convinced that Rita's medical bills of twelve million dollars were paid by Karen who is a multimillionaire.
Karen on her part, who knew the importance of this meeting, was grateful deep down, on the knowing that the universe has favored her with goodness. She quickly remembered the Sunday Tea that was always hosted by the European Medical Association on the TV that kept leaving the audience with this quote
'With Doctor Golden, Long Life And Prosperity Is Assured'.
It's a time for her to meet and mingle with powerful professionals like Golden, and update her lists of friends.
However, they promised to get together as soon as possible, especially after a successful surgery was done.
Doctor Golden then walked straight to the sick Rita with a baptism of strange happiness in her mind and on her face.
"The bills have been transferred to the hospital's account, and here is the receipt to show your payment," She said and handed over the receipt to her.
Rita who was full of excitement, shook Golden on his hand, gave Janel the receipt, and appreciated Karen with much word of mouth.
Golden was fully convinced now, that the bill was sponsored by Karen. Wow, He was inspired.
"We don't have time again, as much time has already been wasted. In three hours, I will begin the surgical preparation so that by tomorrow, at a disclosed time, we will start the full processes.
He then stopped the ongoing flow of four bags of drips and some medications from her body, in preparations, and administered a few tablets of drugs on her. They watched as four different nurses including nurse Abigail, came in with different medical liquids.
After this, Rita was left to freely associate with her audiences till the next day.
During this time, she seized the opportunity to thank Mrs Karen continuously. She has no idea of the agreement Janel had signed with Karen because of her and her brother.
"What should I do to compliment this act of kindness from you? " Rita asked Karen
"Ask no further questions. We are all wired by God to help ourselves. None of us can survive independently, we depend in one way or the other on ourselves" Karen still explained.
"Ha, ha, ha, You think someone like me can help you in one way or the other? That should be in the next life or I will gladly serve you for the rest of my life" Rita added.
Karen just smiled without saying anything, and there was a deep sense of silence in the room. Rita observed the silence between Janel and Karen and was a little bit worried.
"Stop stressing your thoughts on what doesn't deserve it. Relax, everything is about to be beautiful".
Encouraged by her daughter's words, she smiled.
'Trin, Trin', Karen's mobile phone rang. She answered the call and discovered it was her billionaire son 'Kyle'.
She excused them and walked outside to have some conversations where no one could easily hear them. After twenty minutes, she came into the ward and saw Janel laughing and smiling with her mother. She easily joined in their happiness because she was also happy with the recent telephone call from her son and for the first time since their hospital conversation, she became humorous.
"I would love to have some words with you outside this place. Please hasten up, to meet me" Karen informed.
"Alright mam, right behind you" She replied.
While they both were moving out, doctor Golden in the company of different nurses both men and women, entered and gently rode Rita in a wheelchair to the theatre. She kept on looking at Janel and Karen until she was live in her new room.
